It seems like in the fretted world, people use Ps and Js in roughly equal numbers. But, when I look at fretless (e.g. the number of fretless for sale here), it seems like fretless J basses are way more common than fretless P basses.

Is there a reason for that?

Am I wrong in thinking that fretless numbers are more skewed towards J over P than in fretted basses?

Is there something about J bass tone or pickups that lends itself better to being fretless?

Does the fretless muwaahhh get accentuated more by a J bridge pickup than a P bass split-coil pickup?

Light, please?
