Thanks for that! You're fortunate that you have lines on the two instruments that you can't feel for position, where as on the kay you don't really need that since ( a ) the kay is a far longer scale length, which means it's way less picky about finger placement to be very very close to in tune, and ( b ) it has a neck that you can feel changing shape and a neck join and body edge that let you feel exactly where you are as you go up in positions.
ok, I'll stop making my point now LoL

It might be because grandpa got his first cell phoneMan I feel like I keep seeing that modded P bass a lot over the last few days and it is awesome. Bet there's not another like it.

Well maybe not the greatest who ever lived, but definitely one of the greatest.Keep in mind that the greatest bass player who ever lived had a fretless with lines.View attachment 4170871

I play a 5 string fretless which has lines because it was converted. It's fun and easy to play like a fretted instrument, then sounds cool when you start sliding about the place. I also have an EUB, which has dots, and requires more care. Both fun in their own way. Whatever helps people play the music they like to play.
He did say they helped him himself. But I bet he didn't need them...
