Fretless Precision?

In the late 70's they made some unlined fretless Precisions.

Yup, I have a 77 fretless P Ash body, Maple neck. I had a Bart P/J installed in it (before I knew any better), sounds sweet, but I kinda wish it was still all original.

In the late 70's they made some unlined fretless Precisions.

They started making those in 1970 (possibly even 1969).
The unlined rosewood fretless P that I used to have (serial#271266) must've been one of the earliest ones.

I have a 73 Fender P bass fretless, sunburst with rosewood board, no lines, modified and set up by Roger Sadowsky in the early 80's.

I added a DiMarzio J style bridge pick-up and replaced the P pick-up with a DiMarzio P Bass pick-up and added an out of phase switch too with a volume-volume-tone configuration.

It is a great sounding bass. I would try and go for an original. It will cost as much as what you are considering anyway.

I don't know anybody that's ordered from Rockinn, so I don't know hard it would be to get it from them. You could email Ishibashi and ask them if they can get that model number. But I've heard that there is one of those Japanese companies that gets custom order basses that no one else gets, but I don't know if it's Rockinn.

I love fretless P's.
I have a 1971, with EMG P J pickups. rosewood fingerboard.
And a 1977, white, maple fingerboard, stock.
My first bass was the 1971.
