fretless to fretted in a swipe

I have never wanted to "instantly" have a fretless/fretted bass. It might be useful for gigs where a fretted/fretless would be good for a couple tunes but you don't want to bring 2 basses?

We added "Boys of Summer" and while it would be awesome to use my fretless I just play it on my fretted as for now or until we add other fretless tunes. I don't want to haul another bass for 1 song. I could swap basses many times a set if I wanted - between standard tuned, Eb tuned and fretless - but no one really notices so...

I think not. This instrument is not a replacement for a fretless bass; it is an effect. There’s no way you’re going to compensate for the bridge height in one single action. Like any other compromise, you have to accept the inherent limitations.

I've played a fretless with action set as if fretted.

It ain't fun.

Looks like the next attempt at a failed instant fretless conversion, but who knows. I'll wait for the TB review. Tough Crowd!

I suppose you could engineer another lever for the bridge to lower the action, like a D-Tuna, but it would have to result in zero pitch difference. Not insurmountable, maybe some kind of linkage buried in the body to perform both functions at once? Again though, a good bit of widgetry to achieve something of only occasional value.

Yes. Great engineering feat, but ultimately it's a solution in search of a problem.
