I play fretted OK - I can cover what I need to do.

On fretless, I can approximately get the right pitch 99% of the time.... working on actually getting the right pitch almost 100% of the time! :rolleyes:

I guess I'm not doing too badly for playing fretless for less than 2 months but I did stretch it by saying I "played" both.

One thing that is helping is working through Ed Friedland's "Walking Bass Lines" again on fretless.

Fretted only. I like the clank of frets, and absolutely despise the "mwah" of a fretless. Sounds like a cow farting to me.

the "mwahh" can range from in-your-face, to non-existent. It depends on playing style, string-choice, action, & EQ...(and 20 other factors)...

I personally like a little "mwahhh", but don't like it being over-the-top.. I'm more into Gary Willis' tone vs. Jaco's
