Fretted vs. Fretless

Easier? Both and neither.
Prefer? Both and neither.
Two different monsters. As for slapping, I recommend a fretted, however a fretless is cool too, just puts plenty of wear on the instrument really quickly.
I play both. I slap the fretted, seldomly the fretless.

I used to prefer fretless but I've more recently developed an appreciation for frets. I wouldn't be without either at this point. I would say that fretted is probably easier unless you're already used to fretless. Slapping is definitely easier with frets.
