Front vs rear ported cab for outdoor gigs

It’s all about balancing the various needs. Different configurations for different needs.

I've done both and don't think my audience cared one way or the other.

I like rear ports because you can store your power cord in them.

But you loose your coupling of the two cabinets together. If you spread them out, you will be heard on stage fine but the overall bass impact to the audience could be lost.

In that size stage you have anyway good PA for audience. I have used my 810 stack as my only monitor a lot and basically would need to have a second one on the other side of the stage to provide reasonable monitoring when moving there. PA handled the rest. In the case of having no PA stage must be so small that one cab is enough.
