Frustrated, need to vent.

I had a brain tumor removed in 07 but in January of this year I had the first of two seizures in almost 4 years. Now when I get stressed I become unable to speak or slur my words. It's like I know the idea I want to get across but can't think of the words to articulate it. I practice breathing exercises and sometimes take valerian root to calm my anxiety. There's no shame in explaining that you need a minute to collect yourself. I find out Tuesday if I have cancer again.

You hang in there too dude! I'm wishing you tons and tons of good luck and good vibes, I hope you get good news on Tuesday.

My sister has something similar but from a burst blood vessel in her head.
So she has problems finding the words she is looking for at times too, among other things.
Not to seem callous, but just be thankful you are able to do anything at all.

If you explain your situation to people, I bet they'd be understanding and supportive. At least, I hope they would.

I can't imagine what it's like to be in your situation and I'm sorry you have to live with that. But I hope you're not down on yourself or mad at yourself at the end of the day. You are coping with it the best you can and you can get through whatever obstacles this difficulty creates in your life. Try to keep a good attitude and don't be embarrassed if you can help it. Remember we're on your side. Good vibes, my friend.

when i get excited or am tired/not feeling well/emotional my words tend to jumble together when i talk. just one big mess.. i feel it happening as they exit my mouth and i try to slow down and think about them but it still comes out wrong.. then i get flustered and keep struggling with them.. usually i stop myself.. take a deep breath.. make a sarcastic comment like "starting over" and then try again.. sometimes it helps

never really thought it could have an underlying problem, but this thread kinda made me realize i dont remember this happening before i hit my head..

Well I might have cancer again. They said there's no mass but there is an irregularity that is larger than last time. A more specialized radio-neurologist is going to look at it and call me next week. Oh, and my gf told me she is pregnant the day before. I'm having huge anxiety attacks now. I used to be against medication for such things as depression and anxiety but now that I've experienced full fledge anxiety attacks I know I need medicine. In a few months me and the gf are moving to New Orleans so I can attend mortuary science college. Ironic? Thanks for all the well wishes guys and best of luck to you Drummer5359. I'm off work today and am just going to lift weights. It always helps my mood.

I was thinking about you yesterday dude. Do what you need to do - if you need a round of meds for the anxiety, then so be it. That's an awful lot of pressure to be under! I'm sending you good vibes and hoping and praying that it all works out ok for you!

Thanks Relic. The past few days I've been wondering what changes have I made recently that could have contributed to my seizure in January. I was a light smoker, 3-4 cigarettes a day, but quit that after the first seizure. I'm an avid weightlifter and I know a month or two before I started using the GNC Muscletech whey protein which has alot of things like arginine in it that makes your veins and arteries open wider. I have since switched back to the Wal-mart brand which has none in it. I am hoping this was the main culprit.

I hope this evens out as best it can it must be incredibly difficult, as Relic has mentioned check-out what options are available to get some help in easing the anxiety and giving yourself a little space, I wish you and yours well, take it as easy as you can.

keep looking forward to every day man

our son has had 4 severe strokes, 2 brain surgeries and more than 30 TIAs at age 3--his courage inspires me every day

my little brother suffered a severe stroke at age 13 and had to learn to walk and talk again--i used to draw inspiration from him as an adolescent whenever i allowed myself to momentarily be discouraged about anything

my mom suffered a severe stroke 10 years ago--i remember the sheer exhilerating emotion that went through me the night she twitched her finger to show me she could move it

...patience to let you speak isn't something your should ever have to ask for, it's something we all should do happily
