Frustrated

Frustrated? Sorry in advance for hi-jacking for just a moment.

You wanna know what frustrates me? How 'bout I tell ya anyway :roflmao: ? Fellas that want to move heavy/bulky gear, but are unwilling to use anything other than U.P.S./Fedex which ship said gear only at very high prices. And then, almost inevitably & without fail at some point, they ask something along the lines of, "why no love for x-y-z?"

O.K., apologies. Mini rant's over  .

Your basses seems pretty hi-fi sounding and maybe you want that to be delivered by the amp. Bass amps are pretty voiced to achieve some tone in particular. Did you try a simple pre-amp to a power amp?

What works for me it´s just that. Sometimes I just take an active floor monitor with me instead of some amp and works simply great. I also built my own combo amp with a little mixer built in to drive up to 3 basses. Works great!

Now that you have those two Roscoes I'll give you the best advice I can give. This is what I have learned over my years of owning many many Roscoes. Get the simplest, most transparent amp you can find. The tone in your basses is more than enough. All you want is to make them louder.

After a lot of trial and error I have found the perfect rig: a Crown XLS 1500 being fed by the preamp pedal of your choice. I use a Radial Bassbone. Check a few pages back in the Roscoe thread about my thoughts on EQ. If you want a little overdrive just use a pedal.
+100
I solved this problem by getting a Monique preamp/DI and running it into a Berg IP112ER. All the knobs on the 'Nique pretty much stay at 12 o'clock and the tone shaping is done from the bass (usually a Zaganin 5-string with Dimarzio pu's and an Aguilar preamp).

This rig always sounds right with minimal tweaking.

Genz benz shuttle 9.2 because it starts flat. The gk starts with that baked in eq.
BAD idea Bro.
I have that amp and it has 2 gains, 2 channel volumes, 1 master volume and 16 eq tweeking knobs. Not including the pedal. Drives me f-ing nuts! Sounds awesome flat but that will futher complicate his problem. I dislike the amp but trade value is so low due to company closing.

Maybe I'm missing something in the threadstarter post, but it sounds like the solution is simple and doesn't cost a dime.

1. Adjust the gain trimmers in the basses so they all put out the same level with their volume knob maxed.

2. Set the input gain on the amp to just below clipping. (Since the output levels of the basses all match, there's no need to change this when switching basses.)

3. Fiddle around with each bass, in turn, to find the EQ for the tone you want with that bass. _Write the EQ settings_ on notecards.

So the only thing that needs to change from bass to bass is the EQ, and maybe the master volume to compensate for boost/cut.

Heck, even if you wanted to get fancy (one bass squeaky clean, another overdriven and gritty), you can always write the positions of all the controls on its notecard. A diagram (circles for knobs) with the positions marked works nicely.

Guess the main thing is just to get familiar enough with the concepts behind the controls (i.e., what each one does in the signal path) that your preferred settings make intuitive sense to you.

Added: A hat tip to the other folks who have made these suggestions earlier in the thread. I just collected them in one post.

This, this, and this!

Heck, you can even eliminate #3 because the two basses in question are very similar to each other. Both also have active EQ onboard, so any little tweaks can be made directly on each bass if needed.

I have and use often a GK 1001rb going into either a Fender Bassman 410 or a GK Neo 410. I use multiple basses with those setups. I also have a board that has my preamp(s) on it. I hardly ever touch my amp. I hardly ever touch my board. Maybe to tweak the treble here and there. But for the most part, the amp stays the same bass to bass. The only thing I really ever touch is the onboard or the board.

And what's wrong with that? I don't see any title being any better. He's frustrated, so he named it that, what's wrong with that? And searching some online site is hardly as useful as first hand experience. So he asked, big deal.

If you look at the OP, it and the "title" were edited (a lot).

It did not start out as "Frustrated", so the early replies are towards that end.
