After having gone through many searches for an item only to have matches come up as a search result, and then finding at least half (if not more) results come up as "SOLD" only after I've gone through the thread, how about this idea:

Is there any way to allow posters to modify the title of their for sale thread to indicate "SOLD" in the title. This way, if someone wants to do research on an item, that info is still there and at the same time, if someone is actively searching for an item, they can see at the search page which ones are gone already.

Eh...? :eyebrow:

I remember seeing someone say somehwere on TB that it would be a good idea to leave the thread there, but allow the starter of the thread to be able to change the title to have "Sold" in it. This way we can see what specific gear has been sold at what price to give people a starting pont for putting their for sale price. I think that's a good reason and so we can look at the pictures of the pretty things that are for sale.

Ummmm....right....that would be this thread perhaps? ;)

people want the thread left open so they can reference prices for the future.

if i see an item that is sold, i try to edit the title. but it's tiring editing everythread

No doubt, which is why I think allowing the poster to modify the title would be a good thing.
agreed.

the problem with the software right now is this.

the poster CAN edit the title, but the change will only appear in the title of the first post when you click on the thread. the change won't appear in the forum unless a mod does it.

i don't know if the software would be able to allow a change like that.

my guess is yes, but i'm still not sure.
