selling my Yamaha PB-1 Bass preamp. it works perfect, sounds great and is in very good condition. these are VERY well made and VERY high quality bass preamps that are no longer made (1982-1996).
definitely one of my favorite bass preamps that have ever been produced. Very quiet, clean, fast and clear, yet smooth and warm at the same time. Extremely flexible in its ability to shape your bass’ tone, and it’s almost impossible to get a bad sound out of it. This unit’s chassis is pretty deep and fairly heavy, and exudes a high-end feel of impeccable Yamaha quality. Controls include: Volume, Treble, Bass (Fender tone stack), a fully parametric mid band, high and low pass crossover frequencies and level controls and a headphone output with level control. it has a high enough output, easily able to drive any power amp.

here's a pic of it in my 2U rack case. i'll post some better pics of it tomorrow.

Durn it John, why didn't you wait til my tax return comes in!:D

Friend of mine had one of these in his project studio that I recorded in and you're right, absolutely superb pre one of the best I've played through.

Great price too!
I don't think this will sit here for long.

Cheers!

Yes you can run it mono. Glad you like it Jeremy, I never heard any feedback.

Great preamp, and you really can't go wrong buying from j-man.

These are absolutely great preamps. Don't know what they've been going for lately, so I can't comment on the asking price, but they're not making them anymore and they're built like tanks.

What kind of tone does this produce? I was wondering if this would work in a progressive metal environment (for recording only - not in my live rig)?

IME, it's capable of dialing in any type of bass tone that you want, with the exception distorted ones.
i started a thread about a year ago on talkbass that i made sound clips of 12 of my preamps and the yamaha ended up being at the top of the list for most tb members.

BTW, i'll also be listing it on ebay later today.
