I have corresponded with Ricky many times some years ago. I believe he left that band to persue other things. Good band. Not quite the funk I like but they have some really good tunes.
Wow! Pretty funky for a gospel tune for 1977! Almost unheard of back then. I think most black churches were still doing quartet style or Edwin Hawkins Singers style music back then!

You might also enjoy Lenny White's group Twennynine and Don Blackman's self-titled debut. Those guys (along with Bernard Wright, Tom Browne and Marcus Miller) were all part of the same Jamaica, Queens crew.

Hey guys, are any of you into the Polish Bass Player Wojtek Pilichowski? Chec out songs like bass talk, bass dance, Po Lekjach, Johnny Pulpo. He sounds like Mark Kin'gs Dad. Like Mark King but more powerful. He even has his thumb taped like Mark but he is a bad boy in his own right. Plays on a Mayones Bass. Killer slap tone, cuts like a knife.
