I had thought it was Bootsy for years, but I recall an interview not too long ago with Boogie stating that it was him on that particular recording. I thought it was kinda odd (not that I doubted it) because it clearly sounds like a p bass getting a workout in that song, and in that era I mostly remember Boogie with a Ric...but I could be wrong!
I had the Louis Johnson Star Licks instructional video. That's some great bass playing. He never seemed to let loose on the Brothers Johnson recordings.
He's perfect but very restrained on these tracks.
I'm that a couple of these are do-overs but what the heck. The bassist on all four tracks is James Alexander....
