Not funky or grooving at all, but it does show that he has some technique that you won't hear on any of the albums.

To a lot of people, funk = slap and pop.
I guess to those people Rocco Prestia isn't funky.

I don't care if it's funky or not funky, funk or not funk, that's the best thing I've ever heard come out of that band.

I would like to see some clips of some bassists that is playing something smokin' hot,or,just something different,as opposed to (for example), pumpin' out the 1/8 notes they usually do 99.9% of the time.

if the band moved in that musical direction i would start buying their cd's again. too bad the cool stuff they only play live.
The clip was a welcome departure from their usual material. He always plays to suit the music, and it was nice to see him break out into a cool slap jam. It sounded great when the other guys joined in. GS should incorporate this style into their CDs.

You can call it "white boy funk" if you like, but it's a nice departure from what he ussually does (meat and potatoes metal bass)

Man, I really really don't like Godsmack, but I really enjoyed that video. He isn't a virtuoso or anything, but it's much cooler than their other material. and the percussion work is pretty good too.
all you guys complaining about his little pauses need to realize that it's just showmanship. he's having a little fun, actually having the spotlight on him.

I think a 14 year old was playing that in the bass department at Guitar Center the other night.

Cool vid, I dont like godsmack very much but if they were using more bass lines like that I'd probably listen to them. IMO that bassline made for a pretty cool groove but not much of a bass solo. The goofy hand stuff reminded me a bit of Les Claypools antics, another guy who proved that you can slap without being at all funky, much like this bass solo.

Nothing keith Horne does surpises me. He plays like Superman!
There must be something in the water in that part of Virginia because Horne, Victor Wooten, and James Genus are all from the same area.
