Funny Rickenbacker Story

I met a turd who though he was a better bassist because he had a ric(he was not) and was dead set on buying one used for $800 untill i played it. I hated the uncomfortable binding and square-ish neck. Tone was good though, and I loved the Thin string spacing, But I'm glad that I didn't pick it up. They are really good basses and look good though, just not for me.

Don't let that put you off of all Rics if you like them. I went through 3 4001 basses and didn't like any of them; I couldn't get them to sound right and the binding drove me nuts. I took a gamble on a 4000 and it played great and had no irritating binding. I swapped out the aftermarket SD pickup with a Rick HB1 and it looks, sounds and plays great. Not my fave bass but it's pretty damned sweet.

Rick now has the 4003S models-No Binding. I bought one and it's great. Check one out, they are very different from the 4001's of yesteryear. Then again, everyone's different.

To the OP,don't quit your day job to become a comedian......it would be a bigger dissappointment than the Rick.....
Here's another sorta-not funny story about a Rick i owned. I traded a Modulus bass for a 4002 in the early '90's,played it for 11 years,and then sold it for 5 times what i had paid....hahahahahahahahahahaha......

I currently own 5 Rick basses. They're just the best.......for me.
