That's entirely possible. However, if we can show the number of people "interested" on a single website is greater than the number of units he is planning on making, that means something interesting.

First, I'm not clear if this means you want me to put you down on the official non-official quasi-pseudo-maybe-sorta list.

Second, though, I think we do have quite an idea of the specs. First, we've been told it will be a ton like the original. The size and enclosure are similar. MIDI options were discussed thoroughly. And we had that image of the "software" with all of the parameters that could be MIDI controlled. So I think we have some idea...except for price...

I agree. However, if I HAVE to pick between the two, I'll take what I can do with MIDI. Because with the proper adapters you can still do basically everything (save/load presets) via MIDI.

At this point they're equal in functionality. MIDI lends itself to chaining with legacy devices or working in a live environment sans computer though. Doesn't really matter to me since I have MIDI to USB adapters but it is a common complaint when USB is omitted on pedals where deep editing via a computer is possible. Strymon catches a lot of flak for not including USB.

Not a deal breaker for me but a little disappointing knowing I'll have to hook up an adapter every time I want to edit something. It would be cool if there is some kind of wireless patch transmission like the TC Electronics pedals use. I assume they use bluetooth?

The highlighted part is what I'm getting at though. Right now it's much easier for me to add a pedal with MIDI and be done with it. I don't have a proper MIDI-to-USB converter; I'm not even sure which one would work for me. Something like the DMC gHOST converter?

Again, I'd strongly prefer both, for the reasons you state. But I'll take MIDI 10/10 times if I have to pick.

I have a Midisport UNO as well, but it's a USB A connection, not the USB B/mini/micro connection I would expect to find on a pedal. I only use it for computer (laptop or tablet)-to-pedal communication.

Just in case it's not clear, the "list" is not official whatsoever. It's on page 25 of this thread. It's a list of people who say they are likely to buy, just so that the developer has a certain level of interest. And, maaaaaaybe, as a bit of a gentlemen's agreement in case a pre-order opportunity is offered to TalkBass. But still, there's no way we could enforce that.

I'll put you on the faux-list.

Are you going to purchase oversized external switches for this one as well if the dev decides to make some available? ;)

I know this wasn't directed at me but the MIDI implementation is interesting to me because I'm already designing an Arduino-based MIDI controller for my H9 and Manta. So hopefully I will be able to supply additional functionality for myself. :-)

Yeah, I was just making a joke about the BeatBuddy switches.

But, Ardruino is something I have been looking at for my H9. I was thinking of maybe making a small box with an arduino board that could simply let me assign some Midi CC messages on switches. Up/Down/Bypass for multiple devices, simple.

Yeah I'm looking at using it to program patches with different program changes on different midi channels, and to produce beat divisions based on tapped tempos, and maybe using registers and continuous controllers to make up for the lack of a sample & hold pattern on the SA Manta filter.

I'm not going to haul a PC and midi cables with me to a gig. I want a simple FX unit on my pedal board where i can have the presets for each patch edited to my taste and choose each patch for a song or more than one patch in the same song - this is where the down switch is needed because i don't want to do tap dance to go all the way around the patch list to get to the one that's below the current one. now imagine that in the rush to get to that patch you press the switch one time more than needed...

IMO this is a big flaw on the interface and one of the most common issues people pointed to the original SB-1. If i'm going to buy a fx pedal i don't want to have to buy another external pedal to act as a switch because there's one lacking... it's a $3 part!!!
