Patch 38 is one of the ones I programmed. It was part of the original v3 soundset.

What do you mean by “tracker synth tone”? Which patches? What part of the sound don’t you like? All patches are fully editable/replaceable so you can set it up exactly to your liking.

There are loads more patches I shared for free in the cloud.

I’ll mess around in the editor later tonight. I’ll report back on tracker tone after I put in a few more hours and look at the patches on the editor. Also I’ll try the tone knob roll off trick for cleaner tracking. It’s hard to describe the tone but I hear it on every tracker synth I have played except many of the FI V4 patches. It is worse on the Bose synths and even present on the analog Octavius. I’m confident it has to do with tracking, when I trigger the Octavius with a clean keyboard oscillator or my old FI v1 with midi it goes away. The key point is the FI can get rid of it, the FI v4 truly is the best I’ve tried and exceeds my expectations.

Great work on those patches! 38 is SO MUCH fun.

WOW, this is the best synth pedal I’ve tried. Just gone through all the presets. The lead sounds are exactly what I need to keep from reaching for a keyboard and stay with my floppy bass strings, number 38 especially. I put a section of one of my songs on loop and just got gnarly with it for 30 minutes. It was gloriously nasty.

I love this thing!

Some patches have that tracker synth tone I try to avoid but the ones that don’t tell me I can edit it out. I think this thing thrives in funky madness. Well done Pandamidi, well done!

It’s early, but I can say with confidence, this is the first synth pedal, including V1 and C4, that I will not be selling and it will find its way to my music. It feels so natural in my fingers, I only need to play the dynamics, I don’t have to worry about the tracking at all. Sorry for the long gush but this thing is fabulous!

I have to say I’m still loving this pedal everytime my band ads a new cover song, I know I’ve got the FI to do it. We’ve added Sledghammer by Peter Gabriel and there’s no need to ad an octave pedal to the board. Just used the editor to make a nice copy of the original sound in its own preset.

Also doing “Blinding Lights” by The Weekend and already had a perfect patch made from a Bruno Mars song we were already doing.

I like the idea of a FI compact enclosure but I get so much from FI that I don’t even care how much space it takes up. It’s the highlight of my board for this particular band. www.supafonics.com It saves me from mounting a lot of other pedals.

We published the first software update for FI V4, this time yet a minor bugfix. On some devices the encoder behaved weird (sometimes skipped a value, sometimes made a reverse step). This is now fixed. The version number is 4.03. TalkBass does not allow to upload the update program file here, but you can download it from the panda webpage at www.panda-audio.com.

My FI v4 has arrived and while sounds and tracking is improved I am having issue with the Editor for v4.0 64Bit. It will open and run but if I minimize it goes away and will not re-open. Twice today I have uninstalled, restarted, installed and open and run for a bit but if I look at any other file it goes away and will not open again. The last time it happened when consulting the manual on line and poof it was gone and would not open.

I was also having an issue while trying to update the firmware.

Are you using any other MIDI USB connections (in a DAW for example or connected keyboards, Morningstar controller etc)? Windows only allows one instance of MIDI usb at a time so if another is active then the editor cannot open. If you use the connection for which you use the FI with something else then that will also prevent the FI editor being opened.

Also, did you used to have the the v3 editor installed? If so, did you many manually delete the settings folder after uninstalling it? See the FAQs in the manual and follow the instructions there.

Editor has been stable for me on Windows 10 for a long time during testing.

The Microsynth has a unique character and immediacy that you may miss, but the FI is far more capable. For raw synth tones and quick action, I prefer my analog pedals; for replicating and programming higher-order synth sounds, especially if I need control over modulation, the FI is the best I have tried (C4 included). That said, if I was gigging still and wanted a minimulist setup, I could see only using an FI and a compressor.

Yep @OhulahanBass hit the nail on the head- analog will respond quicker and the way the controls are accessed on the EHX Bass Microsynth is also very unique and cool (whereas not all of those options will be available on the face of the FI)- the EHX is great for dialing in tones quickly. IMO the Future Impact also doesn’t quite nail that analog sub-octave tone well unlike the EHX or C4, but on the EHX I always was blending that with other voices (the EHX sub-octave voice isn’t as great a standalone octave as something like the OC-2) and the mix of voices available in the Future Impact crushes the options in the EHX.

You can also set it up to be really dynamic so you can adjust the tone by your playing, which is rad and heavily appreciated by this user. I haven't dove into making any patches that split the neck into multiple sounds, but the presets that you all made that do this are stellar!

I am super excited for the MIDI-CV cable to get here so I can trigger my Moogs with my bass
