I shared a Wurlitzer patch a few years ago. Obviously a different sound but covers similar territory. With the 4.5 update, you’ll be able to use the classic DX7 EP1 Rhodes patch, or any other Rhodes-type FM patch.

I'm getting really interested in making an iphone/ipad controller UI for the FI4. I have no room on my pedalboard, and I like the idea of being able to customize the layout and controls.

It seems the two contenders for building such a UI are TouchOSC and Midi Designer Pro. I haven't had time to look at either one in any detail. For anybody that has used both, can you comment on the differences and advantages/disadvantages? I am a (retired) python/c++ coder if that makes a difference.

To start with I just want to create a small matrix of buttons to select bank/program on the FI4.

What do you mean? Labels as in “category” labels for patches on the manager tiles?

You are right. I have just ordered this one, NANO 4:
Opens so much more possibilities. I supports "pages" - you can have four specific presets on each footswitch or to have Prg+ Prg- on two bottom ones and something else on two upper ones, etc. However, I believe my suggestion for the global "FX Loop" mode on FI is still valid, to allow fully utilize left and right switches for comfortable switching programs up/down live, if you don't have the extra MIDI controller.

- Left footswitch is for program UP and the right footswitch for program DOWN (or viceversa)
- Long press moves faster up (left sw) or faster down (right sw) through patches
- FI starts turned on upon powering

This FX Loop mode could be activated/deactivated as the Global parameter.
I believe many would apprecciate this. Would it be possible?

In concert I got trouble when I had to step up by two or three patches. In this case, I do not start scrolling with keeping the pedal down, I rather make single steps up. Or I want to do so, but typically I end up stepping too fast and instead of stepping up by two I rather step down by one ☹​

Your idea would be a good solution for you, but I do not think that too many people would have a device to connect the FI into FX loop. I have another idea. While keeping the functionality of the ON/OFF switch unchanged, we could add a special functionality to it. When you make two quick steps on ON/OFF then it would turn off the FI for a brief moment (while you do not play anyway), and the turn on again, so nothing changed; this action could result a step down. Of course this could be done only for single step down, but anyway it can be useful. And confusion of doing step up and step down on the same pedal could be avoided.​

I think the issue is that a double-press is problematic in the heat of performance. Single presses are much more reliable for stepping down.

I got one thanks to you and I love it! I'm just waiting for the new midi drivers to get activated in Windows 11 (supposed to be by the end of the month) so that I can program the thing in the editor and map the buttons into Ableton at the same time. Currently, I have to unplug it, restart it, and switch apps, which is a serious buzzkill. Already got it working with the FI. I'm working on trying to understand the possibilities of my expression pedal as a CC control with the Flexis.

I’ve been messing with FI4 and MIDI. I am trying to use Lekato USB to MIDI cable adapters: USB A for the Mac, and USB C for the iPad.

No luck with the Mac yet.

With the iPad, I have able to see MIDI note data when I play my bass into the FI. I have been able to send program change messages from the iPad using MIDI Wrench, and the FI changes programs. But when I send note on/off messages from the iPad, I see the cable light flashing (so the messages are getting sent) but the FI does not make any sound. Any ideas about what might be wrong?

Again, covered in the manual: in order to trigger the FI via MIDI note data, the Instrument Mode needs to be set to either Synth or EWI. (In the 4.5 update it will auto switch like it used to in v1-3.)

Do you have the FI “Instrument Mode” set to Synth?

Thanks guys, had a brain fart, I saw that and thought "it must be set to instrument mode already right?" Sorry to be a blockhead.

I'm still using The Future Impact V.1 and about to upgrade to a V.4 device.

There is an issue I've always had with V.1, but I'm unsure if it's a bug?

I have a specific "supersaw" patch that sounds completely different every time it's selected.

I have to select a different patch and then return to the supersaw patch, two to four times before it plays back correctly.

It's like the phase of the oscillators are locked to a different, random position every time the patch is engaged, until it is eventually engaged (by chance) at the right 'start position'.
Once engaged at the right phase position, the patch does not change - (no 'beating' or oscillator drifting/phase cancellation).

I really love this patch when it plays back correctly, and I'm wondering if there is any remedy for this issue?
