Thank you.

Sorry, not trying to be difficult. You obviously are a newcomer to the thread. There is a running joke about a completely unofficial list that was started back on page 25 of this thread. There is no official list that any of us are aware of.

I have not seen this being talked about anywhere else on the net yet, so Talkbass appears to have first dibs. Which is super exciting and nice! :)

ya i agree. although, looking at basschat, there was a chap that mentioned in a bass synth thread that there was a DI/FI mega thread here in TB..... other than that, haven't seen anything anywhere else.

also just to classify my previous post....it was all in fun. no real "list" will exist

I think I may be this chap...

Anyway, while I can see how this pedal can be very exciting once released and reviewed, I'm still trying to wrap my head around why some guys here are willing to put money before they really know much about it... What am I missing? Or are you all expecting these to run out and become collectibles right after a few are released?

Because it's the Deep Impact that cost anywhere from 600-1200 bucks on eBay but improved. I mean. I don't have any issue putting money down. Even if I don't like it, I can sell it or trade it.

Well, it's supposed to emulate the Deep Impact (and a lot more), and the developer here was involved with that. So while he is not calling it a reissue, it is reissue-like. That alone is going to be worth it to a lot of people.

My thought is that there is no reason to believe that this couldn't cop (in the very least) Deep Impact tones. The pedigree is right AND the effort involved is right. If it can then do that much more, its just gravy to me. The main reason I am so ready to put money before reviews is the lack of comparable products on the market. The new Boss unit seems about as close as one can get and it's rather expensive and huge. If you want a dedicated bass synth pedal today that is remotely sophisticated this is one of the only games in town.

Right, but what makes you so sure all these assumptions are correct? Is there anything more in this thread than promises by practically unknown persons communicating with the TB servers from somewhere around the globe over TCP/IP?

I admit I haven't followed the whole thread, so may very well have missed the crucial part...

I am definitely taking somethings on faith. No doubt. But how is that different than any new company / new product situation? The assumptions I am making are reasonable (for me) and I am assuming that people are being honest - right pedigree for the developer, software that was possible in the mid-90s should be simple today, no insurmountable challenges that I can think of in creating a comparable product to the DI, a price point that is reasonable in that it suggests substantial development work etc.

Sometimes I sit on the sidelines when these things come up - see Beat Buddy. This time, I don't mind diving in.

Well, the Panda Audio website COULD be an elaborate ruse, but insofar as that website is legit, then the bonafides of Andras' prior involvement with Akai and his current product development seem to be correct.

As far as the effort, until there are sounds samples one could have doubt, I suppose. But we are seeing the software interface, pictures of a pre-production unit, etc. Lots of work to fake for just a prank.

Hmm... This is becoming interesting. I didn't know about "Panda Audio" and moreover I had no idea that they are the ones developing the EWIs for Akai. This is doubly interesting because I actually have an EWI right here (which sadly I mostly gave up on but arguably through no fault of the developers).

OK, if there is independent evidence (i.e. not from this thread and not from the Panda-Audio website) that all this is correct I may vey well be tempted to add my name on this non-existent pre-orders list :)
