I would love to answer your questions here, but then I have less time to work and the FI will be released later -- this is not in your interest.
Be sure, you can easily access all sounds, up and down in Direct Mode within very short time.
Lokki has answered most of the questions, I post here now some info:
1. The quickstart manual that will come with the device (the detailed manual must be downloaded).
2. The updated schematics of the algorithms (important if you want to design sounds).
3. The updated screenshot of the editor.

Additionally to this editor there will be soon a new one running on all Windows and MAC platforms.
I made a few sounds recently to demonstrate the use of the noise generator with a very sharp resonance tracking filter, and posted a demo to soundcloud.
The first 4 sounds do not use oscillators, instead noise or harmonizer shaped by the VCF.
In the last two examples the FI is used as an effect pedal.
The first is an autowah, the second is controlled by an external MIDI pedal which sends CC74 (VCF cutoff).

there will be another editor, easier to understand. for mac and windows. i also did an implementation in puredata which works on OS X windows and linux. i will share it later on if anybody needs it.

Releasing the source code would not make much sense, I have written it in a language that is used by only a few dozen people on the world. But the detailed, full documentation of the communication protocol will be released together with the detailed manual, so based on that anybody can write easily a new editor, if he wants.
