Future impact re-housing project

Would it be feasible to raise the switches. Guess the over height would get a bit out of hand but it does look like the dial will get stomped on. Not an issue for BTW.

I looked at a design that raised the switches, but it wasn't really feasible.

The top of the pedal must remain flat due to the printing orientation. Anything protruding from the top surface raises the print off the bed and needs slot of support material to build this way adding considerable cost. It also looks awfull as the support material does not leave clean surfaces like the glass does.
 
Of course there are compromises to be made with saving space things have to get closer together.
I've been using it on the floor today and find that if you aim at the RH edge /lower corner then the encoder can be missed easily.

also...i will be including an encoder guard with the housing that any user can super glue next to the encoder if you choose. This will eliminate any risk of encoder damage.

Ofcourse. Perhaps I'm less interested in saving space and more interested in re-designing the button layout as I kind of struggle with them as is. I'm going to follow along for sure, but unless I pursue a solution that doesn't involve me controlling the pedal with it's native switches, I'll likely pass on the design as is. I am interested in possibly using it as a ramping off point. I'll talk to some of the design folks at my company and see if anyone is up for a "fun" project.
 
oooo 3D printing! I'm into it! (it's a thing I do as well) =0) Could always do what I did for one of JIO's pedals and make a mega chunk stomp button (raises the step point of the switch a whole lot more than my standard button, seen on right for comparison)

I am very interested in this project. I am curious though. Will it come just as a housing and then I get my current pedal rehoused by a pro somewhere else? Or by You? I just am wondering abouut everything that needs to be done to get it looking like yours above. Thank You very much for the hard work, it looks great!

This is a job that pretty much everyone can do. In fact I've taken mine apart several times though I've only had it about a month.

What it takes:
-Remove the knobs (be careful, there are 2 stacked rubber o-rings underneath most of them)
-Remove the nuts that hold the input/output
-Take the bottom plate off. keep screws seaparate (they're a different length than the internal ones)
-Remove the visible board mounting screws you see inside the unit.
-Slide the top board horizontally out of the unit. this has the midi & audio jacks.
-Remove the nuts that hold on the switches, so you can get those out.
-Unscrew the last of the board mounting screws and lift the last board up and out.

...Reverse the process once done. ;)

A smaller head screw driver and a small set of pliers should be all you need and the whole process should be under 15 minutes the first time through.
 
Ok. So I've been working on a variant of this design that reduces the size by another 17mm....

I call it the "super compact"!!!

Granted there may not be much demand for this version.... But it's the one I will put on my board as I control via ES8.

length is now 82mm from 154mm, that's a reduction of 46%

The trade-off is that the switches are now only operated by hand! And protrude a small distance from the side of the pedal.

I will be offering both designs for those that want one.

Looks pretty schmick; what are you using for the cover on the bottom?

There will be a cover on the bottom printed in Toughened PLA (black) which is a quite a bit stiffer than the standard Silver PLA.

The case is by far the most complicated part of this design, which once i have nailed, il move onto the covers/guards which will take hours to develop, not weeks as this has!
