Fuzz addict club! If you don't like it fuzz off!

So I sent my BG muff back to Ryan yesterday. After playing it in a live setting a couple times now, ive realized it needs a gate. Plain and simple. I just can't get the volume up high enough in a loud setting without it feeding back like crazy. While that may suit some and even me at times, it's just too much. So I'm having him mod a gate that'll always be on to a pot so I can simply control it with that pot. All the CCW Itll barely be on/just about off. Fully CW Itll be fully on and everything in between, you get the picture. Thought it would be more ideal than just getting it put in a bigger enclosure and adding another foot switch. Can't wait to get it back now!

I just got a Diabolik and I am in love. Finally found a fuzz to keep around that can compete with my 6 screw sovtek muff. There's some weird upper midrange magic in that particular sovtek, dunno what it is.

Does anybody know what could cop something like this?

So midrangey. I love it.

That's awesome about the Diabolik. I love it! As far as that song. To be honest it doesn't sound that great to me. If that's the tone you are going for it reminded me of something you can get with an EHX Big muff Pi deluxe. The guitar version even has a mids knob. Something that I think would sound a lot better would be a Big Game muff with mids mod or Fuzzrocious or any other number of muffs with a mids mod.

It's definitely a unique tone, yeah. I had a black russian with mids mod and it was weird, it was like there was just really loud clean mids thrown on top of the existing scooped fuzz. I just play in a trio right now and so I'm always looking for tone to contrast with the guitar to make sure there's always the right kind of space/dimension. Maybe I'll build a muff sometime this week and put a mids knob on it or something... I have an enclosure sitting around that's black and army tank green, just begging for a big muff to be built in it...

Just another post from me, I got bored with my triangle muff (clone, don't worry) so I snipped the diodes and shoved in some LEDs, and it's awesome. No more thin, tame fuzz! Now it can compete with the diabolik! I ordered a Solidgoldfx Custom Beta the other day, hoping it boosts the new-and-improved triangle well!

I also love running the Diabolik into a vt bass (lol, very jmj of me) and diming the clean control, along with a good amount of fuzz volume. So gritty and squishy, and it totally works in a rock mix.

I haven't had many dirt pedals that have just stayed without a second thought. Almost none really. Just the OCD and the blower box. But even the OCD is going. And I don't even use the BB that much, but when I do, it's extremely effective. I'm still looking for a couple fuzzes that will be that for me. The big game muff is quickly becoming one. The pharaoh may or may not be. The jury is still out on that one.

I really wanted to like the ocd but it seemed like there was a blanket over the whole sound. I know a lot of guys get great tone with it, but it seemed dull in my rig. I owned a glove for a solid month last year and tried out the ocd again last week, and ended up getting the Beta lm308 I compared it to, just a better fit.
how come you aren't liking the ocd after so long?

The beta 308 is an amazing grindy OD

4 fuzzes on the newest version of my board.
Mojo hand colossus
Fat fuzz factory clone
Fuzz face clone with mids knob (super silver sparkle finish)
Mastotron clone (the irrational squid)

You know it's funny because I've always thought the OCD was very good at cutting through and sitting on top of the mix. It does take some low end presence away hence the clean blend. But then you have my preamps, my tone shaping. So that takes away from the "blanket" you're referring to and really helps it cut.

But on its own, yes, I do notice that blanketed sound, but like I said recently, when I took it off my board and playing with it on its own is when I really noticed it. But now, that I've been beta testing the big game OD, the OCD is like small potatoes. I'll always have a special place in my arsenal for the fulltone. But big games OD really took all the stuff that didn't work for me with the OCD and got rid of it. So that's mainly why the OCD is coming off. Ryan has really spent some time with his OD and it shows. And I'm grateful and happy to help him and give him some feedback. His OD keeps if not adds low end, it's flavor is just mean and awesome and you can really get a lot of versatility out of the tone and drive knobs. It could be great as a dirty boost too. I should be getting an updated version of it tomorrow. But so far, that's why my fulltone is going bye bye, simply because I've found something a lot like it but even better. Or rather is stronger in the areas the OCD was weak with bass and brings its own flavor and pinage to the table. REALLY dig it. And anyone who knows me knows that for me to replace the OCD is saying a lot.
