yeah, she's a beaut. that one also goes under my "best deal" category. local player was moving and was liquidating gear and let her go for a very nifty price. so nifty i was hesitant to purchase at first coz i thought it was 'ill gotten swag'. but he was legit and was just being very generous.

no, the neck on #1177 is original. that is, i've never swapped it out when i owned her. sorry i can't be of help in this case...

Interesting... I wasn’t the original owner so it’s a definite possibility that necks were swapped before I got her. I changed the hardware and electronics when I had her so It’s possible the previous owner(s) also attempted to change her up to ‘personalize’ her a bit.

Hehehe... the look of a coco top along with gold hardware has been a favorite of mine since the early 90’s when I used to drool over the modulus quantum’s at the local music store!

Someone bought a great looking honeyburst 5 string that had been on Reverb the past few weeks. I was pretty interested in it but just can't afford it right now. Hopefully another one comes along in the future when I have more funds freed up.

That top is just amazing and i wasn't even really paying attention to the specs, I was just going to order it and hope I liked it. Besides telling myself I couldn't afford it, the other reason was because of the phenolic fretboard..I'm simply not familiar with them at all which caused some hesitation on my part.

IMHO, I love the phenolic board. It has a feel. A tone. That clean sound that sings... They are amazing!

hmmm..i wish i would have moved on that bass...sometimes i overthink things too much.

My ggi5 also has a phenolic fingerboard. I love the tone, feel and the look.

two things:

1. I'm asking The Bass Place to check their scale. My records say the green bass weighed about 8 lbs. It's too bad we can't really make basses out of this wood anymore. The dust is too irritating to work with.

I got them to re-weigh this bass, and it indeed is 8 lbs.

My ggi5 is a see thru color called Mary Kaye Blue. It is just a bit darker than the one you showed. Mine is similar in configuration but has Gotoh tuners and a bridge PU that can be used in single coil or dual coil.

I was just playing my ggi5. It is just like my ggi6 in that there is nothing...NOTHING...to adjust to. No loud notes....no quiet notes...no strange sounding notes...no place on the fingerboard to avoid for any reason. Beautiful electronics that are so easy to use.

I am continually amazed by my G. Gould basses. I have thanked Geoff many times privately for his groundbreaking bass designs but want to do it again here. Thank you, Geoff, for making our job easier. What fantastic basses you make for us.
