G.K. effects Loop

So i have owned my 400rb for about a year now and with some extra time on my hands and with out sounding to stupid. i have never used the Effects loop patch bay send and return.. how do i want to use this? what dose it really do and what are my options...

It's just a way to insert effects into the signal, between the preamp and amp. So for example let's say you have a rackmount graphic EQ you'd like to use. You'd attach a cable from the GK's Send jack to the EQ's Input jack. And another cable from the EQ's Output jack to the GK's Return Jack. Now the EQ can be used to further modify the tone, beyond what's available in the GK tone controls. Or you could put a compressor there, or a multi-effects unit, whatever. It's that simple.

Thanks that is what i thought but the manuel is very short in this area! by the way what could i expect from a rack mount compressor

Is there any difference in using the Effects Loop than straight through to the input?

Yes, there's difference. The loop is line level, so anything like rack effects, that run at line level, should be used in the loop. Stomp boxes run at instrument level, and therefore should be put through the main input on the amp.

I have owned 4 different GK amps and while I love the GK, I don't like the effects loop. I tend to lose some "attack".
