If you like the tone of an ASAT, then why not get an L2000? Same preamp/setup. Or, consider a 2 PUP 'Ray to make this a more even match.

I used to own an ASAT, and while I loved the tonal variation I hated the overall balance, and playability. Looping a strap through BOTH heel strap buttons helps counter the weight imbalance, but since there's no upper horn the first few frets feel a mile away. Likewise, reaching the upper frets caused your arm and elbow to jut out awkwardly to reach them.

Tele body designs work great for guitar, but IMO, present problems with bass scale.

Exactly, the one exception being my Rob Allen Mouse but it is 30" scale so the left strap button is at the 12th fret.

I also own a Clement bass which is single cut but the upper bout is way larger than the bottom allowing the strap button to be out there.

I got really nice strap made by taylor and its kinda rough on one side and it completely stops the neck dive for me on my ASAT

also, at least 1/3 gigs I play another bassist comes up to me and tell me how much they love my ASAT. Feels great

They're both great basses. My preference is the ASAT. The Sonic versatility and gritty tone give it the edge in my book

I have had both and the Asat is more aggressive
