That SB-2 is fantastic- I had a similar blacked out SB-2, but the headstock on mine was the same black as the body and it didn't have the painted neck. I really miss mine! I'm still trying to remember what stupid thing motivated me to sell it...

Thanks! I hope you will find a nice SB-2 again soon, it really is a special bass..! My SB-2 is a custom finish and I know that many don't like painted necks, but I just love this all-flat-black look and the very dark fretboard.

I've been playing the ASAT a lot lately because it's new to me, and I like the range of tones I can get from it, but the SB-2 is still my favorite: So well balanced and a killer tone. I will never get a stupid motivation to sell mine ;)

G&L sparkle finishes are just super.
The SB2: hard to argue with as an all bases gig machine. I don't have one at the moment, but I do have two P-basses with the killin' MFD P pup.

I wanted to share a quick G&L story. My wife bought me an SB-1 as a surprise Christmas present 2 years ago. It was to be the last new bass I would get for the foreseeable future because my first born son was only a few months a way. She saw me struggling to keep my other basses in top shape ('78 P and '81 Wunkay). She knew I loved p-basses and she found the SB-1 by herself. She even joined TB to research the bass and spent time in the old TB G&L forum. The simple fact that this was a gift from the heart I knew it would be my forever bass. I had had 2 other G&L's so I knew how great my new bass was going to be.

The bass is my main player and I have sold everything else except for a few cheap project basses that I hope to fix up for my son one day.

Anyways, over the last 6 months the electronics have taken a dive. First I found out that they used split shaft pots (a big no-no with set screw knobs) then the jack was coming loose. The bass crackled and the tone was severely lacking. I decided that I should just buy some new parts (maybe even a new pup) and wire it like the P-basses that never gave me this kind of trouble.

Right before I bought any new parts I posted my problem on the bassesbyleo forum. Ten minutes later I was on the phone with a gentlemen from G&L who said they were in the process of wiring me a new harness. A few days later the knew harness arrived and the pots were very different than what was currently in my bass. The new ones seemed to be sturdier and of much higher quality. I wired it up 2 days ago and I've fallen in love with my bass all over again. I now have the control over the various tones available in the volume knob that I've heard about but never experienced before.

I still don't like that they used the wrong pots in my bass but I really like how they handled a problem with a 2 year old bass.
