Investing in just about anything seems like a thing of the past.

Sadly in this crappy State of the economy, every bass or guitar we have in our collections sell for less than they could or should be.
It is for sure a buyers market out there on used gear.
Everything is selling for much less.
And if a seller thinks he can hold out for what it might be truly worth? It does not sell.
Generally I look to buy only super clean minty or "as new" gear for very reasonable money.
Then if for some reason I need to let go of something, at least I can get back what I paid and not take a beating.
Being I ALWAYS have bad G.A.S., I often turn things over on a whim.
Then half the time end up not liking what I picked up as much as what I HAD

What would it sell for now...???? $800? $900? Maybe I get my money back from the *exact right buyer?*
So, maybe I break even over 10 years. Maybe.

So, maybe now it's time to modify our basses to our liking rather than getting something new - much like people are remodeling their homes rather than buying a different one.
1.75" nut, 17mm c-t-c spacing at the bridge. The widest you can get with shims (0.5mm) between the saddles is 17.5mm.
I prefer wider spacing in general, but my fretless L2500 is do dang awesome that it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The neck just feels amazing to me - perfect! Mine is of the thinner front-to-back variety, as opposed to the older thicker ones like my fretted was, but the 12" radius on the jet-black ebony board with the neck profile feels about as good as it gets.
I'm almost afraid to see pics of the 2 L2500s they have listed on their site...
One or both might end up in my possession. Definitely check that fretless out while you still can!
That's an old (lawsuit headstock) L-2000, but the electronics appear to be rear loaded. What are the possible explanations for this?
1 - there is a control plate, just can't see it
2 - he put an old neck on a newer body
3 - there are rear loaded L-2000's with old headstocks

I've heard Dave talk about his fretted and fretless L2ks a few times. Both have pointy head-stocks and I believe are from about '86 or so. There are some cool videos of him demoing GHS strings on his fretless L2k.
