G&L Club Part 7

Reunited and it feels so good…

Quick down and dirty setup on the new Kiloton and then to practice. What a monster! Super tone, cuts through, fast, angry and a joy to play. I can't imagine not having a Kiloton again for a hard rock band. Amazing. And the instrument seems flawless to me. I can find neither scratches nor "shrinkage" (I was in the pool!). Thank you G&L! So happy to be back in the fold.

I have a whole room full of basses (which is unintentional, but I just can't say 'No'). Of them all, my '18 Kiloton is my favorite. Great tone, versatility, and playability.

What a great deal this was. I am actually quite shocked it was there as long as it was but so happy it found its way to me. With price increases everywhere this seems to be a real steal! Only issue is if I ever sell it (not likely), you all know what I paid for it!! :)

Nope, I totally agree with 2/3 of what you're specifying.
I've never been a 3TS fan, and pairing that with tort looks even worse. But I do prefer my Fender type basses
to have rosewood boards….I love GL's fine metallic finishes best.
Interesting idea to buy 2 Kiloton tribs, do some parts swapping, and resell one……:yawn:

Thank you! Neck is 1.5 nut and 9.5 radius. I think that's standard Kiloton spec but the ebony board is beautiful. Vintage satin tint on the backside is a dream. I think the only non-standard item on the BTO was the ebony board.

Trivia...the build date is 1/10/23 but the serial number is CLF22xxxxx so I guess the serial number goes on first. So we know it took at least 10 days to make the bass. :)

Oh, and it came with a G&L gig bag rather than the hardshell case. I may actually use the gig bag whereas the hsc would have just sat in the garage collecting dust.

Couldn't be happier!

Hello humans and fellow lovers of G&L.
The tuner on the G-string on my JB is rattlin something fierce.
Very annoying when unamplified, but does not affect the amplified sound at all.
So when I pluck a string, say the G, for instance, the damn thing rattles loud.
Seems like the whole bass is rattling.
When I pinch the tuner post, it stops completely.
I turned the little screws on the tuner a bit tighter, but it didn't do a thing.
I don't want to turn them too hard, on account of I suck at luthiering and don't want to mess something up.
Is there a fix for this confounded racket?
(which is really a non-issue because I can't hear it when amplified)

Contact Memo at G&L. I had that happening on my Kiloton & he just sent me a new set of tuners. (I'm not sure if I'm supposed to broadcast that, so shhhh.) I saved the old ones & repaired them using super glue, then I reversed two of them & used them on my Epiphone Jack Casady. They're lighter than the Chinese ones and took away the neck dive, plus they're a smoother tuner. So far, the repair is holding.

This will be the cause of the rattle. Slipping a piece of paper in the gap will make that rattle vanish. Until it slips out. iirc, the factory suggested fix is superglue
