NBD! Here she is in her new home. Just LOVE this body shape and feel. But it will take some getting used to resting my thumb on this pickup location. I haven't owned a pure P in forever. All P/Js or variations including a Kiloton that find me resting much closer to the bridge.

Very happy with this gal and can't wait to take her out!

My BTO LB100 that has been in warranty repairs since early October is finally on its way back to me! I never actually got the bass since Rocket Music caught the issue before it ever made it to me.

I'll post pics when I get it!

Hm it must be the "repairs" time of the year for G&L. I had a BTO through Greg that I received and had to send back immediately because of issues. G&L said they repaired it and are sending it today.

Now if I can just get them to show a little love to @Ricky Rioli with a new neck, I'll be out of the G&L Customer Service department's hair. At least for a little while.

Ric's repair went back to G&L about the same time as these two repairs, so I'm hopeful that it is getting close.

And for that reason, you should be glad you didn't buy a Tribute Irish Ale Kiloton. I haven't weighed it yet, but it feels about as heavy as my Peavey T-40, which has a reputation for being a boat anchor. The IA Kiloton is a solid piece of swamp ash--no lighter wood with an ash veneer top. I'll check out that SB-2. It wasn't there yesterday.

I'm wondering if it'll come with the 50-110 set of Roto Bass I supplied in the case fitted. I'm wondering if they'll have done as I asked and fitted a pearloid pg to replace the parchment one that doesn't quite cover the routing. I'm wondering if I'll get my non G+L hard case back. I'm wondering if the new neck will have the correct specs. I'm wondering if the new Indian Rosewood board will be as handsome as the old one — I was very sorry to see that go. I've done a decent job of forgetting about these unknowns for the last 6 months.

They put the TI Jazz Flats on my Fretless Kiloton when it went in for neck replacement. I know that is a sample of one, but they are at least capable of using the strings you sent.

I do like Roto Bass 50-110, but there's a good reason why I sent a set of the highest tension strings I regularly use to be fitted to a replacement neck.....

I had a set of TIJFs shipped to Fullerton (before I realized they're not really for me) to be installed on a BTO under construction. They couldn't get that done for some reason; instead the TIs were sent back to me and the bass came with Dunlop flats. Interesting choice, I thought, as the Dunlops retail for $80. Very nice strings, I'll take the win.

Played my new SB-1 at practice tonight. I don't know what kind of magic that MFD possesses (Magic Freaking Device?) but to say it cut through the mix and my bandmates loved it would be a gross understatement. Combine that with the extreme playability, smoothness of the neck, body shape/comfort and I just have to say "what took you (me) so long???" I had a couple of SB-2s but I honestly don't remember them being as soulful or forward as the -1. I cut the mids a bit, dialed in some HPF and it was just wonderful. Almost sounds like there's a preamp in there but a subtle one. Any way, thank you Steve A. and Dave M. (and of course Leo F.) for crafting an extraordinary instrument. I can't imagine a better value in a modern take on a classic design.

G&L has a deal with D'Addario, right? That said, if you send a bass to them for work, and supply strings to put on it, I can't see it mattering where the strings are made. It's the customer's instrument after all.
