2007 so she came with Schallers, quartersawn and vintage gloss tint.

I remembered I had it up a couple weeks ago when I tried all the parts on the LB100 gold metalflake body so I didn't want to overdo it. Again. But I will. Took me quite some time to find those two fretless. For a few years I had to use one of my L-1000 fretless' necks on an SB2 body before finding the SB1. Trans-blue SB2 came last year, just couldn't resist her.
That only applies if you buy one with a dual truss rod and tone control.

I had to send my hat and shoes back in for warranty work. Been waiting to get them back for a few months now. No dancing for me until they're back in.
It ain't necessarily so. My 2007 SB-2 has a single volume control that is also a push / pull switch for parallel / series. And no tone control! It does have a 2021 neck that was made for it with a dual truss rod. I still dance when I play it. Playin' an SB-2 just makes ya wanna move your feet!

A lot of what he talked about wasn't better product design, it's better QC.
My experience is that he is right. G&Ls, when well produced, are incredible basses. It's just that they aren't always well produced.
I hope he succeeds.
Some bits that make plenty of sense to those of us who have been interacting with G&L the last 3–4 years:
Over the last few months, Gay has found himself not only leading the Custom Shop, but also lending a hand, wisdom and advice on the factory floor, effectively becoming an unofficial supervisor for much of G&L's guitar-building operations.
"It was so chaotic that I knew things could only go up. Things here have been in disarray and chaos for a couple years."
"The first month was just cleaning and organizing because it was just too chaotic to function, but now we're actually starting to get orders pushed through."
"We have problems like the different departments not communicating well with each other. There's no overarching structure that reinforces how the process connects everything together in the end, so by the time a guitar gets to final assembly, lines can get crossed."
"Spending a solid 15 years working in a repair shop and maintaining guitars for people gives you a lot of time to see all the things that continuously go wrong, which is how I approach guitar design now. I know where the problems start to occur, so I approach guitar design and building from the perspective of not running into those same issues."
That quote is also hopeful. Too bad Dave didn't run into him earlier.
It is hopeful, and similar to Roger Sadowsky's start that led to building his own instruments:

It does seem like that could be a path that he's taking, doesn't it? Stepping stones and such. His task right now is pretty neat, straightening out Leo's company. It seems like he appreciates the history, too.
