Hey all...was just re-aligning my volume and tone knobs on my new USA SB-1 and upon removing them, noticed they were...oof, plastic! Is that standard? I thought all knobs on USA basses are metal/chrome.

CTS do make pots with a nylon shaft. I have had them on basses before with no issues (to break one, you'd need to smack it so hard that you'd probably crack a split shat one anyway)

I assumed that my Tribute Kiloton knobs are metal - but checking now I wonder whether they might be molded plastic. They're non-magnetic. Wouldn't think that they'd be chrome-plated brass. The core is molded plastic. Not sure whether they could be plated die-cast zinc? - as they feel heavier than plastic.Yeah, that does sound wrong.

Woot! Ordered an SB-1 in Pearl white/Matching headstock/maple neck/ tort pickguard, yesterday from Greg. Super excited and can't believe the new pricing!!
The new pricing makes it look like G&L restricted options and increased prices to give them time to rethink how they do things. Figure it out and let the orders flood in when you open options back up and drop prices.
Noting I do not think this is actually what happened. This strategy takes more planning than I am willing to give G&L credit for. Definitely happy to see options come back and prices go down.
The new pricing, when you factor in a case, is not a huge drop in my opinion.
What's cool is that they are open to adding specific options, like they did years ago.
My guess is that they lost a lot of business when they took away all those options from the BTO line.
