Hey all...was just re-aligning my volume and tone knobs on my new USA SB-1 and upon removing them, noticed they were...oof, plastic! Is that standard? I thought all knobs on USA basses are metal/chrome.

Thanks but talking about the knurled knob itself, not the shaft. (Why does that sound so wrong???)CTS do make pots with a nylon shaft. I have had them on basses before with no issues (to break one, you'd need to smack it so hard that you'd probably crack a split shat one anyway)

My 2 beauties, custom shop peacock blue and BTO Andromeda on empress.Lots of great pics so far. Out of curiosity - any custom shop examples that folks are proud of that you're willing to share? Not just finishes, but figured woods as well? I'd be curious if you requested a light weight body and, if so, what weight you were able to hit with the request. Thanks to all who have shared so far.
So true, plus it's healthy for them--basses need their vitamin D!Gotta get them out in the sun to really appreciate them.
Ruby red metallic, really shines when the light hits it.

I assumed that my Tribute Kiloton knobs are metal - but checking now I wonder whether they might be molded plastic. They're non-magnetic. Wouldn't think that they'd be chrome-plated brass. The core is molded plastic. Not sure whether they could be plated die-cast zinc? - as they feel heavier than plastic.Yeah, that does sound wrong.![]()

View attachment 5385337 As promised, a public service announcement for the second of my Empresses now listed in the TB classifieds. This one is an SB-2 in lovely Whiskey.
Come and get it!

Link hereThat is what I use.Being an old fart, my Medicare plan paid for me to get a food scale. It's guaranteed accurate up to 33 lbs, which is handy even for shipping basses that are boxed up. So try looking for food scales. The price isn't that bad usually. And you can even use them to weigh food!
Super excited and can't believe the new pricing!!
