G&L was once here; Badass Bassplayer I think is still around, but **crickets**

It's a build from the builder. Yes graphite metallic SB-1 with tort, #8 neck, quarter sawn with vintage tint satin finish. I'd have never considered that combo until I saw the Fender CS Sean Hurley bass. I think it looks really good.

Great combo! Of course my M2K doesn't have a p/g; but that tort looks amazing with that finish. GO for it; the Graphite Metallic is pure class IMO.

i've only played a #12 once on an M-2000 back about two years ago. can't quite recall how it felt. i've got a #7 on my sb-2t, i'd imagine the #12 is just a bit narrower.

I run #12 in both of mine, for me it just works. It feels like home. I tried the #8 but it was to small for my taste.

I think it depends on where G&L is at. I got my SB-2 with quite a few options in about 8 weeks; My ASAT, also pretty tricked out, took closer to 12 weeks.

I'm sure a #12 is great, as I've got a #6 and a #7 that I switch between constantly with ease. After playing with a vintage radius, I think a 1 5/8 with the 7 1/2 radius would be heavenly.

I'm not that picky about necks but #12 sure is nice. It's a happy medium all around.

I don't remember which number = what profile, but to me, the 1 3/4" shallow C from the early G&L's was pretty much the best 4 string neck ever, for me.

agreed. something about that wide n' shallow neck just makes my fingers want to dance all over it.

Hey there G&L lovers! I've recently been GASing for a 5 string really badly, and I've narrowed my selection pretty much down to either a G&L L2500 or a Lakland 55-01 (and maybe a 55-02). I know it has been covered multiple times which one of these basses people pick, I'm curious about the G&Ls variety of tones. I constantly hear that they are incredibly versatile, but at the same time best suited for rock and funk. I would most often use the bass in musical pit work, where I have to cover a bunch of tones and genres. Do you think a G&L is well suited for this, or would I be better going off for something with a little bit less mid growl? Thanks, and I apologize if this has been covered in the club before, I haven't had the chance to sit down and read through it all.

If it were me (and it wouldn't be, as I don't sight read) I'd go with the 5501 for sheer ease of operation.
