G&L Club Part 7

Whoa, you got good eyes. The picture doesn't strike me as vastly different from the G&L ebony boards I've got at home.

Here's the rest of the posts. In the original posts G&L says it's a rosewood fretboard. I've never ordered an option order bass from them but I've seen several times just on TB where they have messed up option order and custom shop basses.

That's my bass. For the record, I believe the mention of rosewood is a mistake. My dealer said that the ebony looks great and, in the pic I think it looks like ebony. What he noticed right off the bat is that the neck was not 1/4 sawn. He double check his order form and the spec sheet sent along with the bass. Both said 1/4 sawn neck. So we sent it back to get it made right. I'm glad I had a dealer with a good eye looking out for me.

My question is where in Jack and Jill's bungalow did G&L's quality control go? If they have a price in mind for a brand new instrument, I would think that price, and none extra, would include both pride and quality from the initial order to delivery.

So, no I wouldn't pay extra to ensure something which should be there, anyways.

Thank your for the clarification about the fingerboard! My eyes aren't all that sharp after all ;)
I didn't quote the full post or link to it as to avoid pointing specific fingers in regards to an instrument not my own, so I appreciate the fact that you stumbled on my post of your bass.

I personally had a lesser error (gloss rather than matte) slip through.
Given my location across an ocean and a sea, I'm happy I caught it on social media rather than when it arrived at my dealer.

When I say 'extra' I just mean that I'd be fine with them setting a slightly higher price if I could actually get the QC that I'd expect from a fairly small operation that offers so many options.
Didn't mean a tip or a bribe!
