G&L Fallout Bass

All my previous basses had flats on them, but when I got my Fallout it came with rounds, so I gave it a try, and liking it so far, although tad too bright for someone who played only flats in the past. And welcoming the calluses back to my life. I ordered GHS Balanced Nickels roundwound for the Fallout, hope to bring some warmth to it. See how it goes!
Just wondering, is there any way to get a hold of the L1000 EQ to retrofit to a Fallout, as Ed Friedland has?

Make the wiring yourself or pay someone to do it. Schematics are readily available at:

Noting that you will either need to add another hole for the additional potentiometer or figure out a stacked potentiometer. In the G&L thread someone noted the stacked one will likely have to be volume/treble due to the bass one having a value you will probably not find in a stacked potentiometer.

I really wish they would change the spec, or at least publish it as an option. They’ve done it for me twice, and it makes it sooo much more useful to me.
What's the difference between the Fallout EQ and the L1000 EQ?
I'm able to get a 2-band EQ sound by using the single-coil mode into a Sadowsky preamp pedal. Not very flexible, but it's pretty smooth and punchy, and gives my Fallout a different dimension.
I, too, wish there was the L1000 EQ option available!
Edit: gratuitous bass pic. Our guitar player got a new red guitar, and it looks like Christmas in the studio next to my Greenie!

The Fallout is spec’d with a standard one knob tone control, like on a P Bass. The mod I have is the 2-band B/T cut circuit the L1K uses. More versatile IMO.
Who is everyone (anyone) using for pickguards on their Fullerton Fallouts?
G&L does not have black pearl, which is what I want t put on my grey pearl w/ maple fallout after I complete the L1K mod. Next up will be aged white pearl on pink! Love these basses.

I got my 3-ply BWB from Chandler Music (IIRC they used to/still make pickguards for G&L) since G&L tortoiseshell is not so inspiring, and I was going for that 70s Fender looks - black on black, maple fretboard. Options are limited but maybe try emailing them see if they have other pickguards to choose from?
Let us know on your L1K mod! I'm very interested, but no one has done it yet, other than the Custom Shop.

My Fallout bass is wonderful! Just got it today. Plays good, sounds good. It is only quiet on the parallel mode. Single and OMG setting there is a very slight bit of noise. NOTHING even coming close to the noise on my SB-2 with Bridge at full or near full. Nor my Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz. You cannot even here it if playing to music. I really like the OMG setting. The single coil setting brightens things up. Both single coil setting and OMG setting have exactly the same level of noise but it is perfectly acceptable to me. I am sure if I took my amp off passive setting I would not even hear noise at all. It came settup nicely. Low Action without fret buss except the A string 13th fret (only slightly heard un amped) All other frets below and above that exhibit no fret buzz. The bone nut was decently cut. The sound I get from this bass is much more to my liking with rounds than the SB-2. I ordered a set of TI Jazz Flat JF-324 (shortscale) strings. Below are actual photo's of my exact bass Sweetwater sent me.

I have this exact bass and am one of the lucky ones that doesn't need to shim it or fix any sharp edged frets.
I found it sounds best with heavier LaBella flats, especially when muted and played with a 1.1-1.2mm celluloid pick.
I take this bass on many jam sessions and gigs, even though I've shielded it, it can get very noisy in 2 of the 3 settings, depending on the electric situation. It's just single coil hum.
It's such an incredible instrument, amongst the Laklands and Japanese and US fenders, this often wins out. The main competition is from the MFD equipped MIM PJ.
