G&L Fallout Bass

Yeah, I'm really enjoying mine. I was (am) a dedicated P-Bass guy, but this is a fun bass. Mine came with strings that were specifically designed for the Fallout, apparently. They were kind of half-flats, but I put flats on and I think that works better for me. Still waiting to jam with my band! It's been over 2 months (for obvious reasons). As mentioned above, it feels really solid. Excellent build quality. And, yes, a bit pricey perhaps but I managed basically a straight up trade with a dealer for another bass so I didn't really pay anything out of pocket.

It has a really fantastic range of pick sounds IMO. For me, I like the split pickup position (middle switch) and roll back the tone pot to about 30%. But playing around with it, there’s all kinds of sounds in there. I think for recording is probably boost up the tone a bit for more definition, it’s just too clicky live.

Oh boy a tribute version. Anyone know what the string spacing is at the bridge on these?

The blue model would be better with pale yellow stripes and pickguard. :)

What about possibly having another MFD pickup installed in the bridge position - either exactly or close to where a Stingray short scale pickup would be?

I figure I'd go with volume, parallel/single/OMG double switch, pickup selector switch, and tone.

I'm thinking about nabbing a black Tribute Fallout from Jason at Fret Nation. Nice looking bass! I'd have him sub out Chromes flats for the stock roundwounds- that's part of the intro deal he's offering.

Would a Invalid Link Removed work in the Fallout as a replacement for the passive tone? Methinks it would, but would appreciate any thoughts. I am thinking the Fallout with a Tonestyler could be a LOT of fun and extremely versatile.

Update: Got it yesterday and it's awesome! I prefer it to the tribute Kiloton I have in tone (might be looking to sell the Kiloton). Parallel is much fuller on the Fallout than on the Kiloton (not surprising given the pickup location). All modes sound great!

It's surprisingly heavy (as all all of my basses except for my Roadworn P) and has a bit of neckdive which is surprising. But the fit and finish are really good (not the quality of US G&Ls but very good).

Sweetwater still has some btw. Call to ask about the price, they can hook you up.

Come to papa...

These came in to Sweetwater this week and this one is mine.
