G&L Fallout Bass

Yes, I hope Ed covers this sometime soon.
I'm not trying to bash Steve. His skills are way over what I can do. I just wish he would have practiced on this short scale machine and then done a few takes, then picked the best one. I have lots of interest in one of these, so I was more frustrated than anything, hearing all that annoying noise. It was a turn off, knowing this video was used for the brand new unveiling of G&L's latest release. Glad they are now a contender in the SS game, though!
I have a less polite opinion of his sound and playing that I will leave off the boards. :D

I've been looking for a short scale bass to get that Bill Wyman tone. I want one of these! I'm gonna wait until I can custom order one though. For that price point that these are selling I'd rather get one configured the way I want it.

Pretty sure you can order one through the Custom shop now. However, I'm not sure the Fallout will make it to the Option Order line, I think they might stay pre-set colors/options like the Fullerton Deluxe/Standard lines. I'll try and get more info on that...

Fretnation.com -- That's SlapinFunk here on TB, Jason Mendelson in the real world-- has them. $1699 there.
Yeah that’s the retail for em. I called around to some dealers and got one for $1400 by paying up front with pre order. Got one comin in racing green. Very excited.
And yeah, I think this is the sexiest bass g&l has made thus far. Instant classic if you ask me

As much as I’m enjoying my Fender Mustang, I might be converting to a Short Scale guy. I hadn’t planned on selling any of my basses, though I’m now thinking that I’d consider moving part of my “collection” for one I might play more often. If a lower level line of these gets released, I might be inclined to change up my stable.

Well, I did it... placed an order for a yellow one. In fact it looks like I'm going to do an (almost) straight-up trade for a Rick 4003. Now, before you say anything, I like the sound of Ricks (Yes, Motorhead, Rush, etc.) but it simply does not feel right in my hands. I've owned and played a few. As I've gotten older, the sound of a simple bass, short scale, with flats is the sound and feel I want right now.* The Fallout looks pretty cool. And I played a blue one yesterday and, as expected, it's solidly-built. A simple little guy, but it will be perfect for what I play right now, which is 60's garage/power pop. And, yeah, for that price it should have a case, but I'd probably just put it in a bag anyway because I'm always on the train and big clunky cases are annoying to truck around. I'll post some pics and other info when it arrives! I asked for factory flats (anybody know what brand/type come stock on these?)

* My go-to basses have been, since 1990, in chronological order: Upright Kay, Yamaha Fretless, '66 J-Bass, Alembic Mark King (!), '75 P-Bass, '66 EB-3, Guild Starfire (recent reissue). So the G&L shouldn't be much of a surprise, considering the story line. Cheers!
