In the words of Davie504 - OMG

I've always loved the sound, playability, and quality construction of G&L basses... but the one thing that they always seemed to fall flat on is that they didn't have a good sense of style.

They really just seemed to be utilitarian, and not "sexy".

This one is dripping with style and they may have a runaway hit on their hands. I'm definitely interested at this point.
beg to differ

No offense, but I wish someone other than Steve "string-zing" Araujo would demo one. All I hear in his demo is fret buzz and I'm pretty stinkin sure it's not from a bad setup. I am glad, however, that he also demo'd it with flats. It sounds great thataway. I absolutely love MFD pickups. I'm utilizing the P version in one of my P Basses and it is my favorite pickup right now. I will soon be installing a set in my 30" scale Franken P Bass .
I'd like to hear Ed "The Bass Whisperer" Friedland lay some tasty chops down with this new model.
Oh, yeah..... I'll go for the British Racing Green AND Yellow. Bip-Bip and Cheerio.

Thanks for the laugh. I needed it. I agree on all counts. Ed is the best!

I don't disagree with you, but.....

...here's my Josephine:

Oh, I think that's a beautiful bass!

Like I said, I think they make great instruments, but right now short scale, solid colors, and very vintage looks are in style and I've never seen G&L try to pull off something that's currently in style and really hit it out of the park.

The Fallout is probably my favorite G&L ever. Now if I can just get them to answer my Facebook messages about when I can order one

Thank you!

G&L's understated utilitarianism is actually what attracted me to the brand initially. Playing MFDs sealed the deal. But as a lefty, to get my preferred neck profile on an SB-2 meant a special order, sooooooo I indulged a little.

Looks kinda cool, shortscale with humbucker and 3 modes. But for what reason does it have only 19 frets? Old Fender stang/musicmaster basses did have only 19 frets, all that Fender does is reissuing their designs, so new ones have 19 frets too. But why did they opt for 19 frets? Yeah, you dont use the 20th fret very often, true, but it is way better to have a fret and dont use it than to lack one... Modern basses tend to have even 21,22,24 frets... I could probably live without a last fret, but...

I've always wanted to try a G&L. Maybe this one.

Who is their online retailer?

What's the price on this? Couldn't find one with Google search.

I don't know pricing info, but these will be pre- or I guess standard built so like the Fullerton Standard/Deluxe lines it will be easier for dealers to order stock. I know Musician's Friend is an online dealer of G&L. Rocket Music is another dealer to watch.

Well, the price has been announced, and there is this, so I'm saying soon.

Hmmmm.... $1799 British pounds translates to about 2400 USD.

A LOT of competition in that price range... you can get a custom Serek made for that kind of money. And those are the holy grail of modern short scale basses.

Yeah but you gotta account for shipping and taxes and other market differences. It’s not just the conversion rate. US price points would make that a very small target market (at the straight conversion).

Yeah, that dude has some major fretboard clacking and fret buzz going on. Like, annoyingly so. At first I thought it was lousy setup, but he played two basses and both were that way.

I’m not huge on the colors besides the green, and I think they’d be better sans-pickguard, but I’m nit picking.

I figured he had a Darkglass pedal in his signal chain :bag:
