G&L L1000 vs L1500

I'd bet that if the L-1000 were still in production and the L-1500 was discontinued, everyone would be saying that the L-1500 was the better bass!

I understand the sentiment and you might be right to some degree but no, I would prefer the L1000 regardless. But then I dont care for stingrays and I think that carries over to the L1500 somewhat.
Wunkay for me.. I've been an "Owl Farm Victim" for a long, long time. Duke can help you out; he is after all the oringinal "Wunkay Wuver" 
L-1000 all the way. How can you not love that bass? It's a just got that "umph" with clarity and articulation that fits everything I throw at it.

Since the L-1000's P/U position is the same as the neck position P/U on an L-2000, how does the sound of an L-1000 differ from an L-2000 with the neck P/U soloed?
Parallel mode not so much imo. I think if you have an L2000 with the k switch then the single coil mode is basically the same. I believe the bass boost mode isnt available on the L2000.
Does anyone know for sure what the bass boost mode on an L1000 is? Is it single coil with boost or are the coils in series?
Thanks! I dont ever use omg mode as its a bit too murky sounding for me but others love it. Maybe if i were playing dub or reggae it would be cool. Either way the L1000 still slays.

Huh...really? All I ever use is OMG mode, and I never play dub or reggae....
OMG is what makes a Wunkay special. It's like the Andre the Giant of basses - massive, crushing, powerful, gone too soon, and legendary even today.
Well those are just styles I would personally use it for though. I know it sounds crazy and I know there are lots of L1000 players that love it.
I just prefer the clarity of parallel and single coil modes. When I did use OMG mode for a while I would usually roll back the bass a lot to make it a little more controllable. I found that I could get the same amount of fatness I wanted in the other modes with the bass up to maybe 75%. Since its clearer I just use it that way. Its still the most slammin bass I have owned.
FWIW I play in a mellower band and might not find it so overbearing if the music was different.

You sure about that? From what I read yesterday they've been calling it the OMG mode long before OMG meant Oh My God.

Pretty sure. I don't own one but from what I've read and through talking with G&L dealers, thats what it means.

The L1000 and L1500 are so completely different sonically as to not be interchangable, for me.
The 1500 is Stingray-ish.
The L1000 is, more or less, like the L2000's neck pickup, but, it's a different thing yet.
It's really hard for me to quantify how, so, I'll just say "I've sold every 2000/2500 I've ever owned-even those with single coil mode- and I still have two killin' L1000's.'' It just flat out feels different than a 2k, to me. YMMV, and that's fine with me
For those of you with an L1000, and not using the single coil with bass boost, just dial the bass back til it's nearly off, and then add a bit back in til you're happy with it. It's really every bit as bright as "true single coil," at least, IMO.
And for those of you who want to argue that OMG isn't single coil, hang on a minute, and here's the factory lit that proves you wrong:
And, fwiw, humbucking mode on the 1k's is dual parallel, and not dual series.
