G&L L2500 USA options question

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order a bass, and I wanted some input from all of you. I'm ordering the Redburst finish on my G&L L2500 USA with a quarter sawn maple neck. I'm not sure what options I want for the neck though. I am thinking of a color-matched headstock with vintage tint gloss. Your opinions are wanted please. BTW, I'm ordering it with a maple fretboard. Thanks.

personally, i would just go for the standard clear satin. first, for the feel/playability aspect. second, the vintage tint gloss would have an inherant yellowish look to it that might clash with the redburst finish.

Maybe I should tone in down with a light tint gloss or light tint satin... thoughts on color matched headstock or without?

not really a matching headstock fan, but the redburst with a maple f/b does look good together.

standard L-series basses come with a series/parallel switch. the k-mod, or "k-switch" replaces the 2-way series/parallel switch with a 3-way series/parallel/single coil switch.

As dedpool said, you get a single coil mode. I use mine 80% of the time. It's a must have for every L2xxx bass. I, along with many others think it should be standard on all L2xxx basses.

Awesome! Does it produce a jazz or p bass sound in single coil mode?

You can do inner or outer coils, your choice. Outer coils = more of a jazz bass tone, inner coils = more of a stingray tone. Both are awesome! Search talkbass, there are some sound clips of both.

yes it is. and i believe it's no charge as well.

I went light tint satin with a clear gloss headstock, finishes it off nicely. The vintage tint is really yellow, check it out before you order it. Light tint to me adds a nice warmth without screaming fake vintage.

Thank you, that light tint looks really natural and fits well. I am one of those crazies that wants a gloss finish on the entire neck though.

If I were ordering a Redburst w/maple board, the GNT option would be at the top of my list. I love the feel of it, think it would look killer with Redburst.

You could also get the "natural wood" body binding option, looks pretty good on Redburst IMO. Like this one...

+1 for wood binding for sure. I like it! I was under the impression that GNT neck finishes were no longer an option, and that vintage tint was it's replacement. Further, G&L does not recommend using Vintage tint with wood binding because it's hard to match. I really think I'll go with the light tint gloss neck with wood binding. Still thinking about the matched headstock option. Anyone else have thoughts on that? Yay or Nay?
