I mentioned this briefly in another thread, but here's some fantastic news for all you LB-100 lovers out there!!

So the LB-100 is my favorite G&L model. I'm a P-bass guy now, so no surprise there. The LB-100 is also the model that is staring down the biggest price increase that's coming on July 1st (for new orders only, not for existing orders or existing inventory). Most of G&L's models are seeing their street price go up by about 10-12%, but the LB-100 is going up more like 20%.

So today G&L publishes an available list, and there are 22 LB-100's on the list. I thought to myself "wouldn't it be a smart move to grab all of those at today's price?" Then I pretty quickly thought to myself, "Do you REALLY not like owning a music store?!?" LOL

The devil on my right shoulder won the argument, so I have the following 22 LB-100 basses headed my way. I expect to start seeing them roll in sometime in the next 1-2 weeks. Let me know if you'd like me to reserve one (or more!) of these for you.

Looks to me like the weights are all very reasonable.

There's a bunch of diversity in the body woods. Pine? OK! Empress, Alder and Ash, too!

The color combinations look great, too, lots of looks to choose from. Some tinted necks, some not. Tort guards, mint guards. Mostly #12 necks, but I see a #8 or two in there. Heck, there's even some string diversity in there - La Bella flats, anyone? That's what I asked them to put on the LB-100 that they're building for me.

All in all, there are a lot of cool basses to choose from here!

Post pix when you can .

Will do! We don't normally operate on this scale, so I imagine it will take a little bit longer than usual to crank out the photos of all of these. But I will definitely get on that as soon as they start rolling in.

Next week, I'll start posting the specs and prices on my site. Hopefully that doesn't take too long, but that'll make it a bit easier on me to get the photos posted if the rest of the info is already out there...

Awesome!!! Any matching head stocks?

"PH" is G&L's shorthand for "painted headstock". I only see one, this one:
LB100 BELAIR GREEN RW EMPRESS WOOD_#8_TORT_PH 7.4 7.4 1 CLF072648

So that's an Empress body, Belair Green body and headstock, the #8 "Jazz" neck, a tortoiseshell pickguard and Rosewood board. It weighs just 7.4 lbs, and the CLF number is the serial number.

What are the necks on the sonic blue one and the empress tobacco burst ones? Does empress sound similar to ash?

If no neck number is specified, then it's the default neck for the given model. In the case of the LB-100, that's the #12 neck.

I think Empress sounds similar to both Alder and Ash. It's got the round/smooth bottom of Alder (though maybe not quite as large a bottom), but it also has a touch of the edginess of Ash. On a P-bass/LB-100... wow. To my ears, it just adds some stank in all the right places along with no muddiness.

I think they would call out any lefties as lefty in the description, but I'm not 100% certain about that. Once these start to roll in here next week, I'll be sure to let everyone know if there is a lefty or two in the group.

Just curious, what does "xx" mean? Could that be lefty? There are 2 on the list of 22 - so about 10% which matches the % of lefties. Just an idea...

We have a bona fide G&L mystery! I'm inquiring, because I have no idea what XX means and neither does my G&L rep... we'll all learn something new today! LOL

Turns out XX is just an internal thing for G&L, it tells them that they're building a piece for their inventory (i.e. the available list). I imagine they must generally try to remove the XX tags, because the obvious next question then is why isn't every piece on here tagged XX? Mystery mostly solved. :)
