Sounds great in all 3 scenarios! Such a unique tone, to my ears, it's somewhere between a LB100 and a Ray. These are actually the first recordings I've heard where I know it's an SB2 and now I want one even more. What rigs were you using in these 3 scenarios? Strings/pedals etc? Just looking for the whole picture...
Hmm. On the recording for Get Up, I likely had Ernie Ball Slinkys on it, 105? I am not a string expert and I usually only change when I break a string. On all 3 that I posted, I was playing through a SansAmp BDDI, likely with some overdrive/grit turned on. That signal would then go through a Trace Elliot GP-12 Series 6, broadcast via a 2x10 Avatar and 1x15 Ashdown. Super mongrel rig, but it's what I've played for years.
In terms of the two recordings, the 2x10 was probably mic'ed, as well as blended with a DI signal of some sort. I really love the aggressive tone on Get Up. I thought the tone for Tom was a little subdued, but it fit the song. A clanky, gnarly tone wouldn't have suited it.
I realized after posting the video for the last song, that the bass wasn't as loud as it could have been given where the video was shot from.
Here's another video from another club, same bass, same rig:
And one more, same bass, Carvin Cyclops combo amp:
