I am looking to finally buy a bass this month, and I have narrowed my options down to two. Neither of these basses are available locally, so I won't be able to play them before buying. They cost about the same online (~$450). My requirements were:
-Jazz bass style
-Maple neck
-Maple fretboard
-Decent quality and sound with no modifications
-Under 10 lbs

From what I have read, the Cort has the edge in hardware quality, but the G&L has the better pickups?

If you haven't made your choice and bought one of these yet, you're in luck! Musician's Friend just so happens to have THAT EXACT G&L on it's "Stupid Deal of the Day" for only $349.95!

I originally bought the Cort - it arrived damaged so I had to return it. I then bought the G&L back when GC had it onsale for $350 - I returned that one because it wasn't anything close to what I was looking for. The neck on the G&L is too chunky for my taste and it was about as heavy as my T40...

Right now I am leaning towards a CIJ Geddy Lee - but I can't actually find any so that is probably a longshot at best. I am also considering taking another go at the Cort or ordering a Sire from Europe....
