It's actually Volume/treble/bass, but your point is well taken.

I think my dreaming results from my regret at not buying one of the first wunkays when I had the chance in '80 + my preference for shorties.

doesn’t have the Bass Cut control.

Bit disappointed by “Deluxe” in the link title. Was expecting matched headstock, binding & blocks.

I wrestled with the link to go straight to his post. I hope G&L might make available and/or standard an Ed F pickguard & harness for the rest of us. This pickup does have a bit much and would benefit from both the bass cut control and a treble bleed cap on the volume pot.

It’s a shame that there are threads where the OP’s are being told they’ve got to mod their brand new bass for it to cooperate with their pedals and amps.

You can have a scale conversion neck hand made by a willing guitar tech. That’s what I did when I really wanted an extra long scale slab Precision. Cost me nearly $800 after shipping…but I have what I wanted, and what is not made by a factory, and likely never will be. It’s my BEAD bass, and the B string sounds so much better than any standard scale B string I have ever played.

Or you can buy a Fallout Bass neck from G&L for $500, and hand build a body for it.

I've always wondered why they never revised the controls for the El Tuekay. I mean, it's not like it's unprecedented-- Music Man revised the controls of their iconic Stingray on multiple iterations.

And before anyone mentions it, yes, I'm already aware of the "M" series basses. Despite the cosmetic similarities, they are, functionally and sonically, different animals altogether (not inferior by any means, but definitely different).

I think a useful control layout would be (4) knobs: Volume, pan, Treble, Bass; and (3) switches: Series/Parallel/Split, Pre-amp On/Off, 3-way preamp mode-- Bass Boost (think OMG 2.0), Flat, Treble Boost.

If I'm not mistaken, the OMG switch on a Wunkay is a low-pass filter (treble cut), hence why I referred to the bass boost as "OMG 2.0".

I'd also revise the pre-amp to 18V, with a quick-change pop-up battery compartment. That I can get one on a $300 Ibanez but can't on a $2K+ luthier-built instrument is one of those industry phenomena I have never been able to wrap my head around...
