Ok, let me start off by saying that I am not one who has terrible GAS. I sometimes wishfully think of having particular bass-related items... but I rarely obsess... until NOW!
I am GASSING so bad for a boat anchor! A Peavey T-40. I want one that is in good shape, so I know I will be paying in the $1,000+ range. Really can't afford that right now. But man, I will have one some day! Never even played one, but I know I would be happy to own one. Would love, love, love to get one with a sunburst finish! If anyone is thinking about selling a T-40 here on TB, please let me know. A guy can dream a little... right? (DREAM BASS PICTURED)

Yeah. To each their own. I would be happy with any color/finish. I've seen them in white, black, red, natural, and sienna burst. They all look fantastic!

I was playing guitar back then (what a dummy). I'm sure you paid around $300-$400... unless you got it used. Then even less!

if you get one, and if you walk home with it = you'll be out of GAS before the halfway point...almost sure of it!

Check in the T40 thread, but I think some of the full colours might be alder or something not ash. I like the plain ones, but maybe if alder, may be lighter, but the club will know as would the member from Scotland who has a bajillion Peaveys; sorry, don't remember his name.

Production stopped in 87 so when I got mine in maybe 05 it was still an old bass. Mine is near mint.

There are tone charts for them, and even YT videos outlining the tones approximating other basses.

I'm a similar age with a whole list of injuries and don't find the weight that bad. Get a wide padded strap. Mine is sheepskin lined and unless I was to be as physical on stage as I was 30ya, I don't find it to be an issue.

Naturals and bursts are ash, but the full colours might be alder.

Get a 4-inch-wide Levy's leather strap...make heavy basses quite tolerable.

One last piece of advice; exhale, there are still a lot out there. Take your time and find just the right one. And if you haven't already, go play some. That will either kill or supercharge your GAS.

Exactly. I have a Squier 50s P that is well over 9 pounds and it doesn't bother me to wear it four an hour or so at a time.

I get it. For me, the green is money and the black dots represent pedals. GAS affects everything.
