I say that based largely on personal preference. Having demoed the Backline cabs in stores and having heard them played live, I was very unimpressed with their sound.

I have also heard comlaints regarding the reliablility of Backline cabs.

When I bought my GK rig I had the opportunity to try the BL and GL cabs side-by-side with the BL600. Since the GL cab was on sale for only about $50 more than the BL cab, it was a no-brainer.

Just bought a GK Backline 210 cab for $75 used for a bedroom cab.
I used an Eden Navigator amp & same bass that I use with my other cabs.
Went head to head with an Eden 610, Epifani 310 & the good ole Backline.
Cab sounded pretty good actually. I dialed in all my tones just the same at low bedroom volumes. I thought the tone was great.
It won't ever make a gig but for $75 bucks to keep an amp at home as a spare while the others do the gigging & the practicing its a good deal.

I dont knock budget gear and in fact i am a huge fan, but the GK backline cabs are Horrible IMO and yes i tried one for a week. I love the BL 600 the best budget head in the bunch again IMO. Mine has tons of hours of gigs on it and in fact is a 210combo setup. Pushed thru a good 4x10 and WOW! lots of power and headroom form a small watt SS amp. Great head, bad cabs...be warned!

regarding the distortion... watch the boost knob, that is your overdrive and will cause it to break up... try your boost off, your master at 12 and set/control your volume with your volume knob... hope that helps

Your right on about this, it was the boost gain that puts out the distortion. Thanks

I wonder how the BL600s are doing now that its been a long time since their reviews. Did they hold up to today? It would be n ice to get feedback for these 5year old heads.

I play through a 4x10 and 1x15 Backline full stack powered by a much-dreaded Behringer head. I get compliments on my tone live and in rehearsals fairly frequently. Most amazingly, nobody has ever said anything negative about my rig, and I know ppl aren't holding back cuz of my tender feelings.

So go with the Backlines. All the other stuff mentioned does sound better, but it'll definitely do well enough for classic rock. And why invest in a rig that's more expensive than your basses?

I have the Backline 4 x 10 and it sounds great !
