Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

I really wish that GK would "update" their 1x15 cab, I would LOVE to have All matching GK gear but their (neo)1x15 cab. doesn't go nearly as deep/low as I would like (they're WAY too mid-focused); Yeah, I'm one of those diehard '15 guys.
That's the reason I mix cabs...I like the depth of the 1x15 and the midrange punch of the 4x10. Oh no...hear they come again...

Why not the Neo410? It's the lowest tuned of the Neo line. I love mine. Is speaker size really going to be what keeps you from getting your tone? Seems silly to me if there's other viable alternatives out there. But I guess I'm not a diehard speaker guy. For many years, I wanted the 410 x 115 rig, until I heard my Neo 410. Now I have two of them!

Have you tried turning the horn close to off, and don't be afraid to crank the bass knob or play with the contour knob. The cabinet is not your traditional 15 but you can get it to go lower, just have to open it up with eq. I have one stock one and 1 with a 3015 kappalite. The 3015 cab hits the mark well. So if you find one cheap enough and want to reload it that might be an option for ya.

Happy this works for you. It does for lots of folks.

My experience with GK cabs has been different and is confined to the Neo line, specifically the 410, 212 and 115. I've found that there is no real added benefit to mixing different Neo drivers. Some combinations work, but I've heard no real plus to mixing. And the 410 + 115 combination seems to amplify the worst of both rather than the best of both. Of course YMMV. Rock whatever works.

Now, about goading the so-called mixed-cab police, let me suggest another thread for that.

Understand the desire for a deep/low 15-inch cab. I suggest you give the 410 a try. I've found that with GK Neo cabs — assuming that is what you're referring to — it's better to buy by ear than by eye. If you like a deep/low can, the 410 is your best bet. If you like mid punch, the 115 is the cab for you. And if even, hi-fi-ish response is your thing, the 212 or 412 are the cabs to get.

I think the 410 and the 115 were actually designed to be used together, with the 115 supplying the midrange that seems to be lacking in the 410.

That's my theory, anyway...
I've tried this, and for me it was a muddy mess. Couldn't EQ for both cabs. Worst of both rather than the best of both. YMMV, of course. And for some, this may be the perfect rig.

Edit: I'm speaking only of the Neo cabs here.

I'm satisfied with my GK SBX-Plus 4x10 and SBX-Plus 1x15. It works for me. However, sometimes I use the 1001-RB 2x10 combo with either the 1x15 or 4x10 on bottom to achieve a 4 ohm load. When using the 2x10 combo with another 4x10, I assume that this is not considered mixing cabs right ? I am referring to the 2 10" drivers vs. 4 10" drivers...does this make sense ?

I have no experience mixing 210s and 410s — GK or otherwise. Many have said this combination works well for them. Matched drivers eliminates some of the mixed-driver pitfalls. What it does not eliminate is possible power-handling issues the different cabs might have.

Eh, of all the reasons not to run mixed cabs, IMO the most important is uneven power distribution. Your rig is only as strong as its weakest link, in your scenario, it's the 210. Running the 410 and 210 at the point where the 210 is safe, is leaving a lot of the 410s potential on the table.

In most cases like that, with the exception of the benefits of actually physically raising the 410 a little closer to ear level (but don't do that or you'll be less likely to hear the 210 farting), you'd probably be better off just running the 410 by itself and simply pushing it a little bit more. Just my 2c.

EDIT: I failed to realize that the 210 that you're talking about is your 1001RB combo. If that's the case, and the option to run the 410 on its own isn't possible, then I guess that changes things a bit. In that case, while you won't be able to really get the full potential out of the 410 with that pairing, it'll still be a good improvement over just using the combo on its own. Another 210 in place of the 410 would likely do nearly as much, with half the size and weight, but given your gear, I wouldn't fault it.

Yeah Thanks, but for my personal needs, the 4x10 is just too big, I don't want something that size; if I were gigging right now maybe, but nah, not right now, Thanks again.

Yeah, I just want something smaller and not as bulky as a 4x10, I really don't need (or want) a cab that size at the moment ... actually, probably ever cause I'm not a touring/gigging musician any longer, but I know what I wanna hear cause I've had 15's in the past, but right now I run two 2x10's (Avatars).

Let me suggest you might try a Neo 112. It's not tuned lower than the 115, but it is more even in response — that is, the Neo 12's do not have the mid-forward tone associated with the 115.

Indeed...you understand my scenario well my friend. The 2x10 is part of a combo (1001RB-I). Therefore, given that the 2x10 by itself does not cut the mustard, I must choose between the 4x10 or 1x15 for additional support and bottom end. Both sound good together as in either or. My preference is running the 2x10 combo with the 1x15 underneath which produces a better sound than the 4x10 IMO.
IMO nothings beats the sound I get with the 1x15 supporting the bottom end with the 2x10 atop. However, the best of both worlds for me is a 4x10 and 1x15 wit my 700RB-II providing the juice.:smug:
