Can I join? My latest project. Its a 1973 GMT 300B head and matching 4x12 reflex cab, loaded with the original Cerwin Vega speakers. Only 150 watts, but loud enough for most any gig and sounds great too. Boy, Bob Gallien sure knew what he was doing.
Nice! Have you restored it or anything? You called it a "project".
She is still a work in progress. I have reglued the old tolex, which had pulled away from the back and right side of the cab. Once reglued, I cleaned everything with Simple Green and finished with Vinylex. I re-sprayed the exposed wood baffle and cleaned all hardware. As for the head, I replaced some of the old capacitors and brought it back to full operation. Think I'm just going to use it in its present condition for now. Although I am tempted to strip it and do a complete retolex on it. Maybe in a year or so... Let's see how she stands up after a dozen or so live performances.

Thanks very much (and thanks for number 1043 as well). Yes, I've communicated with Bob Gallien in the past. And I saw the YouTube post about the history of GK. That is one of the reasons I knew what these were when they popped up on Craigslist. If Bob ever gets his GK museum up and running, I may just drive over to Stockton and give these to him.
I was looking to upgrade from my Backline 410 to a used RBH410. RIGHT now, guitar center's used site has one for a price that speaks well to my wallet. The nameplate that reads GK GALLIEN KRUEGER (so I suppose the whole grill) is aligned with one of the port sides. Would it be easy/possible to take the grill off and rotate it 90 degrees?

GK NEO 412... its usual beasting
GK NEO 115 solo with a Streamliner 900. In a rush I set my Streamliner flat & didn't adjust it. I was a bit too mid heavy & low shy... which is the natural character of the 115 NEOs. I couldn't adjust it on the fly because the church director is sensitive about that kinda stuff. Next gig I plan on adding a fair amount of lows & cutting the mids at 600 hz.
If you want a mid forward cab... its the GK NEO 115s. The 412 I was using on Saturday I added mids at the amp for a bit more grind.

Long time listener, first time caller here. I've been lurking for a few months, but I finally need some help. I'm in the market for a new rig and have decided I'm going with a 1001RB-II. However, I'm having a hard time committing to the cab(s). I was originally going to go with 2 - 4x10Neo's. However, I think I've talked myself into 12's. So here's my question - do I go with the 4x12 or two 2x12's? For those of you rockin' these beasts, would you say there's a benefit of one over the other?
I play a MM Bongo 5HH. I'm not currently in a band, but plan to be gigging this summer weekend warrior style. Typically, I prefer music of the prog persuasion, but cover most rock to metal bases. Overall, I like the modular concept of the two 2x12's, but the 4x12 just keeps calling to me. Also, I'm a tall guy, so getting the speakers close to my ear level is always a plus. I would appreciate any thoughts/opinions/experiences in the matter. Thanks!

Honesty go with the (2) NEO 212 II
I went this route after many years of 410s (which I still like) but the 212s are easy to move, you can get away with just 1 most of the time, and 2 stacked...Well...You could play anywhere with 2 of these...It would be overkill in most places (IMHO)
(2) 212s stacked is 9" higher then the 412 alone.

I have the NEO 412 and honestly, it's the best cabinet I've ever owned.
It sounds amazing, fantastic grindy mids, and plenty of low end but not borderline "boomy" like the 410.
Plus, at under 100lbs it's super easy to transport.
I can't see why two 8ohm 212's wouldn't be just as awesome.
And, with a modular setup like that, it would be super easy to move around.
I think this is the route I will go, but I'm still thinking it over. I had a single 212 for a short time and I like the ability to go with a smaller setup as well. I'm ok with overkill.
I'm still wanting to find one locally so I could try it out, but it's not an easy cab to find in the real world. I think I would really dig it as well, but as you said, the modular setup is pretty handy. Thanks for your input!

Do it... If your vehicle can carry one, go with a 4X12. The 2X12 neos can fit in the back seat of a small car. Take one or both.
Transport is no problem. I could carry two 4x12's if needed. Which would make for a wicked stack on stage. lol. My choice might just come down to price at this point. Both seem like great options.

I run 2 sometimes just so I can set my volume and gain down for the big, yet very clean sweet tone.
A couple of friends of mine have just gone to this configuration and love it.
Well, I'll never say that I'm totally GAS-free, but this is as close as I've ever been! Just wanted to share...

Haven't had a chance to use the amp yet, I just got it. I know there's at least 1 pedal I'm probably going to replace, AND I will probably ADD another Dingwall and another NEO 212 as soon as the funds allow, BUT I'm good with what I've got at the moment...
I still have my Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.0 and my LDS 1212/6, which I'll use for my practice rig, so I should be set for a while. Feels good not to be dying for something new!
I posted this in the Basses sub-forum also, but it's really a GK thing...I used the cabs last Sat. night with my SM 12.0, they were OUTSTANDING!!
