Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

In regards to the 800RB,I bought as a project. Took it a Gallien Krueger service tech,recommended by Louis,at GK. After disassembling,traced problem to&replaced parts listed in the High frequency Amp,adjusted Bias,and tested. Replaced,Output Transistor,and resistor. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I know I took a gamble,but I now have a 800RB,in good working condition. I think I will hang on to this one. After the servicing,and everything,less than $200.00, for a nice 800RB.

Recently got a Neo 112. Man I love this cab. Just the range I like. I got injured a while back and sittin' on the speaker has brought out the meaning of power to groove for me. Plus I've got a new seat. The MB Fusion and this one cabinet works a medium room well IMHO.

All right, enough already!

I just bought a first generation 400RB!
In spite of owning many quality bass amps over the years, the only GK product I have is the small aluminum practice/small gig amp.
Have a speaker / amp selector switch to compare with an SVT-CL, 7-Pro, SWR SM400 through either a Berg HT322, TL606, and a Dr. Bass 2x12.

Could I be headed to riding the rails?

Hey all, just wanted to tell you something about my rig lately. I've been using the DG B7K for over a year now. It's got a blend feature on it and I've always set it more so that the B7K took over more of my sound than the GK 1001 or Neo 410 did. I like the tones I was getting, so I left it like that for a while. Well recently I changed my
Settings and brought the blend back to where the GK shines through more. I almost forgot how damn good my rig sounded! It's so smooth and punchy, just all around sounds awesome. I still love my B7K to death but I'm happy that my GK gear is shining through again, it was sorely missed and underachieved by myself. Brought all my low end back in as well. I'm a happy bassist over here and I have GK to thank for that. Well, and DG too of course, but this is a GK thread ;)

Here are my two GK heads, I really like the 1001RB for the power with the 2 12's. The 1001RB is a beast and can get insanely loud.

I recently picked up the 400RB and a few days ago I noticed I am getting shocked by the strings of my active and passive basses. I only feel shocks from the 400RB which makes me think it may need to be looked at.

It's a 1989 and has the built in power cable which may be the issue. If anyone knows about this or has had the unfortunate experience of being shocked by an amp, I appreciate any help. If the amp needs repair, I may not keep it because of repair costs. I picked it up for $175 without the footswitch.

Needless to say, you should stop using the amp immediately and get it tested by a tech to validate that the power connections and not reversed and the ground wire is connected to all chassis points OK (and the neutral and ground wires are not in contact).

You should also check your house wiring... if you have a floating ground, the difference in ground potential can be a shock hazard, and it can impact some pieces of equipment more than others. Reversed ground and neutral wires can also lead to shock hazards too...
