That NEO 410 is one sweet cab. Hope you got the GK Speakon cable with it.

It's truly one of the biggest and fullest sounding 410's out there when it comes to delivering power in the lower resister and still having some air up top.
Finally purchased another NEO 112 and I'm looking forward to doing an A/B between the two NEO 112's and the NEO 410. I already pretty much know what to expect, but it will be fun anyway.
I've never been a cab + amp guy but this thread makes me want to be that guy

I used to be a bass guy, but now find myself totally being an amp and cab guy. I enjoy seeing how amps sound and react as well as cabs. Especially amps because of how some just make sound while others are great at reacting to what you do and totally have a vibe of their own. That sound and feel thing.I've never been a cab + amp guy but this thread makes me want to be that guy
On the MB212's you can set the direct out to "pre" so your stage volume should not effect what's sent to the mains. Also, I have to have mine up off the floor a bit...that really helps you hear better.My bad. Meant to clarify on that. The mains was being turned down, not the amp itself. I was having a hard time hearing myself other than the E strings but I never liked to be that guy that raises the master volume from my amp after the sound guy has adjusted the appropriate levels for the room. So I just played through the set and asked for the mains to be turned up only for the sound guy to turn up the monitors for my drummer instead
The pre was engaged actually for that show, the sound guys felt like it wasn't necessary so they turned it off on my amp but I turned it back on without them noticing. Hollywood sound engineers... I'll definitely look into raising it off the floor next time. I had a show last Saturday and was able to hear just fine at a bar.
I thought mine was initially a bit "boxy" sounding...someone mentioned that the speakers need to wear in a bit, although im not sure about that and dont notice it anymore. The 2 12's do have a big deep sound and this was my first GK so i had to adjust to the eq a bit. I end up cutting the highs, boost the mids and leave the bass flat....another thing is the "BOOST" knob dialing this up adds "crisp" edge to the highs, for lack of a better description. For me it pairs best with my Jazz basses, overall is a beast of a combo and Ive used it at small clubs and big outdoor events.
I was in my local GC Friday and they had a NEO410 on clearance for $429..I didn't have the cash and decided to sell some gear, then I saw your comment and my heart sank (I assumed it was too big of a coincidence and you must live in Louisville). I called the store and they still had it. I was trying to sell my gear, but the extra I would get between a sell and trade would be erased by the full price of the cab...so I went in today and now the GK 410 is in my backseat. I guess GC has any of their in stock 410 on clearance? If you're looking for the cab, I'd check.

Considering the Neo 212 in an effort to scale down. I'm used to the deep low-end and power from stacked 410's.Concerned a smaller speaker sitting on the floor will pale in comparison. I realize it's apples and oranges but is it too big a jump? Power by Fusion 800.
While i cannot compare it to stacked 410's, I have no issues being heard with my 212 and ive used it at larger outdoor gigs and small stages, no issues. However, if im too close to the cab and/or its hitting me in the back of the legs, i do have issues with clarity. The trick is to just get it up off the floor a bit, this makes a huge difference in some rooms.
I can definitely weigh in on the whole room situation. No matter where you go, you're tone will most likely suffer depending on the room size. It's always best to check out the place before you perform logically speaking.
True...I often consider which amp, bass and subsequent tonal foot print best fits a particular group and room, than try to adjust accordingly. For example, is it a boomy or tight room, acoustic or two electric guitars with big amps, will there be keys/hammond down in my space, etc. Ill pair a Jazz with a GK for some gigs and a P bass with a Rumble for others.
