Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

This feels like a safe place to ask this. I am looking at the MB210-II amplifier and I notice it doesn't just have a chain out, but also a speakON for a regular 8 ohm cab. I know adding the extra 8 ohm cab to the speakON should get me up to the 500 Watts at 4 Ohm. Can I then also plug in one of the powered MBP cabinets into the XLR Chain output and have a second 500 Watt cab for a total of two cabs and the internal speakers? So, basically two and a half (weird way to put it I know) cabs running at 500W each?

kinda.
The mb 210/ extension cab will share the 500w output of the amp, and the powered MBP will be what it is.

I don't know if the answer's that simple. Might ask @rag about this. I know that the MBP cabs need a special signal coming out of the back of the combo, but I don't think it's the XLR. I'm not sure as I've never seen one. Both my GK's are MB heads. Good luck! Any ideas, @killedbydeath ?

Here is a pic of the back of the MB 210 combo from the GK web site.
it uses a standard XLR from the "chain out" to any GK MBP powered cab input.

Right. So my thought was if I added a 212 cabinet to the speaker out that I would get the full 500W between two ten inch speakers and two twelve inch speakers and was hoping I could still add a 500W powered GK 212 to the chain out for 125W to 10, 10, 12, 12 and another 250W to 12, 12. I just wanted to make sure the Chain output still worked if I plugged into the external speaker.

Since I am looking for an amp solution for home, rehearsal, and gigging it felt like I could get that all done with the MB210 II (350W into 2 10s) for practice, a passive 212 cab (500W into 2 10s and 2 12s) for full band rehearsals and for bigger stuff like shows and outdoor gigs, an MBP 212 on the chain (another 500W into 2 12s). I've never run two heads together, so I don't know how much volume that extra 500W powered cab would provide, but I am inclined to believe it would be pretty loud all told?

You can use the chain out and the speakon at the same time.

Thanks! And wow. Robert Gallien replied to a post I made. That's customer service. And I haven't even bought anything. You may have just sold an amp, sir. Just gotta wait until Christmas bonus comes. Now I feel like Clark Griswald.
Not many people take the time and care to trouble shoot to the component level so kudos to you!

Is there much difference between the internals of a 700rb and a 1001rb? I'm wondering if a 1001rb uses the same transformer and therefore might serve to replace the one in my 700rb if I run across one sooner.
Sorry a 1001RB transformer would blow a 700RB power amp. We do have 700RB transformers in stock.

Of course

Fantastic. How do I purchase one? I have a 2001rb that I think was abused by a previous owner. The board was serviced by a hack a couple times (poor solder jobs - traces lifted, burning on the board) before I got it and it is really doing some strange things. I would really like to get it back in service if possible. I tested the preamp with another amp and it is fine. Thanks for you fast responses!

Hey all!
Gallien Krueger was my first "real" amp and I've been using them ever since. The MB210 was one of my first legit pieces of bass gear, I got that in high school. Added a RBH115 to that setup, loved the tone of that combination. Switched over to the MB500+CX210+CX115 combo a few years back and I'm loving that too. Although, I'm using the MB500+CX210 portion of that more these days.

Can't go wrong with GK
